I think its time for the Cassel doubters to eat their crow

The kid deserves some respect.

After todays game Im starting to believe in the guy as our quarterback. He just displayed a true testament of toughness out there and leadership.

To some people I understand its about him leading us to the playoffs and winning the superbowl in order for them to be satisfied...yada yada yada

Im not going to go by that mindset at all. I look at this game and I see the way he played and it tells me a lot about his character. We should be proud. We got a pretty good quarterback folks. That 2nd round pick we gave up was well worth it.

I think composure, toughness, and leadership are key attributes for a quarterback. Cassel has those qualities and I also love the fact that he plays with passion too.

However, I believe the number one attribute as a quarterback is the ability to respond under pressure. So now I don't want to jump the gun here and say he has that capability, but I will say, after coming back from an appendectomy and performing the way he did, is a great sign and a step in the direction towards performing well under pressure. So far so good Matt. Keep up the good work you sure as heck got my support.

Yes it does. Today was a playoff game. We lose today, and we most likely would have been on the outside in 3 weeks. Playoff game #2 comes next Sunday at Arrowhead.

Does he get hit a few times and all of a sudden the happy feet come back? I honestly don't know; that is why I want to wait and see.

I don't think there is actually that large of a difference between us, other than possibly one of tone. I don't mean to say that we shouldn't be excited about Cassel's progress, only that we shouldn't give him more credit than he deserves. I specifically posted-and I know several others did as well-that I thought Cassel would be MUCH improved with Weis as OC, but I was still skeptical as to whether he could get us over the hump and win in the playoffs. And, I still am. You can serve me my crow as soon as that happens, and not a moment before.
The problem with most Cassel haters is that the bar changes every week. Now it's, "let's see him win a playoff game.". Then when he does that, most will have an excuse on how KC won despite Cassel and so on.

The Cassel hate will never stop on here because most posters went way too far with their stance...and aren't man enough to admit they may be wrong...thus the bar being raised higher and higher. But I want to see him win without a running game. But I want to see him do it when it matters. But I want to see him do it when they trail by 21. But I want to see him....on and on and on.

Where is the, "but I was wrong." statements?

Those are things I would not have thought I would be saying just 5 weeks ago.
Agreed. He has gotten much better in those areas. He's still inconsistent throwing downfield, and they are really limiting his longer chances.

With that said, however, his long throw to Bowe might be the best throw he's made in a Chiefs uniform.

More of that consistently sure would be nice.

I will say this. Unlike Trent Green, I never believed he'd amount into anything other than another bad QB pickup by a front office that was inept no matter who was sitting behind the desk.

He's starting to look good.

I see no reason why that won't happen.

The Chiefs are in desperate need of quality receivers and contrary to popular belief, Pioli didn't do Cassel any favors this offseason.

A Mike Williams or Jacoby Ford would have gone a long way in that development and consistency.

What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?

We drafted the black Wes Welker, the next Tony Gonzalez, re-signed Chambers and signed Thomas Jones.

Cassel be cakn' partna.

If only every team were so lucky to play their playoff games against the Rams and Titans. It might not have been my best phrasing ever; obviously every game matters in the NFL. But there is definitely a difference between winning in the regular season and winning in the playoffs. Chiefs fans should know this better than most after all those seasons under Marty.

With the improving mechanics, and with better protection, I htink it highly probable that his consistency will improve on the longer throws.

His consistency on the intermediate routes has improved dramatically in his last 4 games.

Thankfully, this draft is loaded with top end WR talent in the first round. Where we are going to be picking is the prime spot to grab it.

Moeaki has far exceeded expectations and has been huge for Cassel, but I agree, at WR, he didn't do him any favors.

Agree with the talent level at the position, not feeling confident the elite guys will fall that far.

I'm praying it happens, that's for damn sure.

I think what he's suggesting, regardless of opponent, is that the pressure to win is there now, and with all those seasons under Marty, we never relied on the QB to make plays.

Those teams under Marty were DT's teams.

I agree but I'm not altogether convinced that Pioli's grading system will allow for a first round WR, unless he has outstanding credentials outside of the football field.

WR's are usually least likely to be team captains, let alone humble.
