Well to be fair the first OC's he had when he started his career were hot garbage! In the Duhball realm! Defensive HC's with inept OC's. Doesn't it sound familiar to this past season?

IMO, Smith has hit his ceiling with Harbaugh. Smith was in a perfect situation in San Fran - great D with solid STs, solid running game, once in a lifetime turnover ratio differential. Coaches don't bench QB's who just brought their team to the NFC championship game the year before unless they realize the guy has severe limitations. I understand the franchise believes there is a higher percentage chance with the decisions they have made. Sadly, the Chiefs have taken that same failed approach the last 40 years. I'm only here to enjoy the car wreck.

This seems like the team Reid is trying to build.

What's the upside of Joeckel? Even if Joeckel is a little better than Albert it isn't the difference between a SB or not. You know what you have in A. Smith. A midling game manager whose only successful seasons was being twice as conservative as Matt Cassel. G. Smith is an unknown, but has a higher ceiling than an 8 year average vet. G. Smith has the POTENTIAL to be the difference between a SB or not. Take the chance with the QB instead of treading water with the LT.

re: Joeckel I feel like 100 times a day I hear that Joeckel is only marginally better than Brandon Albert from uninformed people... and I don't think the chiefs believe that. Despite what everybody thinks, they are acting like they see LJ as a significant improvement over BA. A Pro bowl left tackle. Is he? Who knows.

The net profit on all this will be Alex Smith for the 1.1
