Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. If it weren't for the big top/chicken leg effect that guys get, I wouldn't even bother.
That, and I have some skinny-assed legs by genetics.

I can't imagine that my form was wrong but I haven't changed shoes or anything else that could have led to knee pain so maybe it was. At any rate, I've been making gains in strength and my quads are looking more defined so it's making me like it more and more. Hopefully one day I'll be proud to show off my legs because right now I'm ashamed of these bad boys. |
