It's possible. (The matchups were atrocious too) We'll know more next year. If the non playoff bowls struggle in the future it's because the playoff took away it's interest level.

College Football Playoff the price tag was at 1 million dollar per ad, which is less than the Final Four, but with the new ratings they have that will go up. Of course you also have to realize that a college football game has 20 more minutes of action to cover which is an extra hour of coverage. College basketball game is 2 hours, 3 hours for college football. Of course you are going to charge a little more for less time because of inventory space.

Unfortunately for the football playoff the scheduling takes a real turn for the worse going forward.

This was the perfect storm of having the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl as the Semi's on NYD. This won't be happening going forward until that same rotation comes back around. Instead you're getting other bowls which will take place on different days.

This also doesn't factor in the conflict with NFL Football who has already said they will not be moving their Wild Card matchups which will end up taking place the same night as the Playoffs. When CFB gets embarrassed by the ratings they will probably rethink this decision but until then they're standing pat.

That makes sense. Kinda like the same reason basketball arenas are smaller due to more games being played and a smaller playing surface.

The SEC Network was shoved down people's throats. It was supposed to get something insane like $1.50 per subscriber but ended up getting watered down to like $.25 per.
