The turn in the Baltar plotline was interesting, I think the crazy bastard actually means it. Roslin has a point when it comes to how dangerous he could be with blind followers, especially with Head-6 pulling his strings. I'm really going to laugh if he tries to tell Adama/Roslin he suspects Tory is a skinjob.
I still really like what they are doing with Apollo. I don't really share Roslin's concern. I think his military background gives him a fairly solid grounding in the real world to balance his idealism. Caprica 6 and Tigh was just disturbing. Kind of makes sense to me in a twisted way, though. Loved the scene where Laura confronted Baltar in his cell. Best scene this episode, IMO. With Starbuck off the ship, looks like it's time to torture Tyrol for a while. Still, you never say "Frak Me" to a superior who can. I'm not sure how I feel about the demotion bit. Depends on how it plays out. The Adama/Roslin book scene was OK, if a little soapy. Good to see a slight crack in the old man's facade. Nice to see Racetrack again, if only to illustrate Galen's spiral downward. Great FX sequence. Good call. I wonder if she will wreck her little ships too. Next week looks intense as hell. Leoben showing up on the Demitrius, and a mutiny? Probably the weakest episode of the new season, IMO. Still, weak BSG > than most TV.

They weren't as overt with it as in recent weeks, but the fleet is breaking. They really deal with moral ambiguity better than any show I've ever seen. Everyone on any side is a shade of grey, at least where the humans are concerned. Lee may be right morally, but Roslin may be right practically. There's no character who hasn't done something seriously fucked up. Is head six turning Baltar into Jesus, or into God? Is Baltar the 5th (or perhaps the 13th), and somehow the "cylon God"? When's Count Iblis going to show up? |

Very true. It's a side effect of being a "gang on the run" masquerading as a civilization. We've seen political splits, but a potential religious schism is a huge issue for an isolated population that size. What happened over returning to Kobol was bad enough, but this could get far uglier, IMO. I've always gotten the impression it was the Colonial "Religion" that bound together the 12 colonies, which were warring between themselves and had very different political systems before uniting under the Quorum of the Twelve. Undermine that unity...see my comment about what 6 is doing to Baltar below. Quote:
My thought was "David Koresh" or "Jim Jones". While they are tied, I've never gotten the impression Head-6 shared Caprica-6's "respect" for humanity, even as an adversary. In fact, I usually perceive her as openly contemptuous of any human except for Baltar. With Baltar's evolving "cult"...a VERY bad combo, IMO. Quote:
Heh. I always liked Patrick MacNee all the way back to "The Avengers". As for this shows incarnation...I'm not sure there is an Iblis, though one person seems to be closer to it than others right now when it comes to inexplicable "mystical" stuff...and temper.

Here's a really neat bit. Someone has a theory that they may have found some hidden meaning in the "Last Supper" promo photo that was published in Entertainment Weekly just before Season 4. If true, it's a nice homage to a classic humor magazine, among other things.

Good episode until that shitty ending.
Due to some malfunction with my translator microbes, instead of "To Be Continued" I saw "You fucking suck". |

I thought for a minute that Tyrol was going to fess up to Baltar about being a Cylon. He had that "I've got something to tell you" look in his eye.
Eventually, one of other Cylons will have to figure out who one of the final four are. Sounds like Saul is playing house with Caprica - I wonder if she knows and isn't saying? The raider was able to lock in on Sam and know not to shoot him - did Leoban figure it out in last night's episode during his confrontation with Sam? I'm like a fish on a hook. But I love it. |

After last night, I'm more convinced than ever Gaius is heading "Jim Jones" and Jonestown on us.
I don't know if anyone else has seen footage of Jonestown before the mass suicide. Jim Jones had the same habit of sitting/standing at the head of his group, recording and broadcasting his "sermons" throughout the compound, right up until the end. Also, he preached a theology disturbingly close to Baltar's "you are a perfect being, just as you are". Seeing the reel-to-reel unit and the microphone in his hand, I now feel certain the kool-aid won't be too far behind. Maybe Moore and Co. are just evoking the imagery and don't intend to go down that road, but I'd be surprised if they don't. Even back when he was doing DS9, if Moore did something like that there was usually a reason and a follow-through. I can't find clips of the documentary I saw with footage from Jonestown, but this dramatization is pretty damn close and illustrates the comparison fairly well. Unfortunately, it's the kool-aid scene, I couldn't find any of the scenes of him just preaching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRfDE9bndfg (This is not a rickroll ).

**** me. I lost power Friday morning, and didn't get it back until this afternoon. Hence, the DVIR didn't record it. Shit.
Is there anywhere I can find an episode streaming online? |

There are torrents and it's probably on usenet, but if neither of those is an option they will rebroadcast it at 10:00 PM on Sunday Night.

Heh. Just ran across a great comment on another board:
Yes, I'm looking forward to see Adama's and Roslin's faces when Starbuck returns with a damaged baseship in tow: "can I keep it? I found it on the road. It doesn't need much Tyllium".
