OK, Buck, here ya go.



It's pretty hard to really tell anything from that graph, but the basic idea is that we're trending almost exactly in line for last year so far. We had 100,161 posts in January 2010 and 99,383 last year, so technically we were up about 1 percent for the year so far.

My prediction is that this year will be much slower than last year due to a number of factors, but we'll see.

True. My thinking is that the "new coach smell" will really start to wear off after the season officially ends. Less speculation about the coaching staff, potential players, etc. But then, it really seems like the driving force behind forum traffic these days is NOT necessarily the Chiefs, so who knows?

I guess I just don't want to assume we're going to have another million-post year when that could have all been caused by all the changes.

On a related note, our fairly insignificant ad revenue is actually up from last year. For some reason, google adsense has decided to pay us more per click/impression than last year. Still not close to server costs but after I (hopefully) launch a few more planets after the draft... maybe we'll eb at break even!

Interestingly, while our posting rate is down for the year, our average daily user activity is actually up about 5% from last year. So, more people are logging in, but they just aren't posting quite as much. I blame ROR for a lack of post whoring this year.

Well, we've definitely slowed down this year. I guess the offseason is less interesting when there's not a new regime in town. Anyway, here's the latest chart:



It'll be interesting to see how things shape up when the season gets going. Currently, we're about 80k lower than we were at this point last year, so I'm curious to see if the gap widens or shrinks as the season starts.

Well it's not every year you hire a 3 time super bowl GM. I think the excitement has gone down a bit but an exciting season will make this place more interesting.

I think that posting might start to go up a little, the Monday night game will probably bring a good thread to start the season and there's a little more optimism going into the year. I don't know if it'll be enough to cover 80000 posts but if they go on a run who knows what will happen. And theres also the Tebow factor.
