Things that annoy you about the general public

I will start.

How about people who argue with a base level employee about a policy? The receptionist didn't make the policy. She can't let you in without an appointment. She isn't going to risk her job just because you're an idiot and can't follow the policy like everyone else, or because you think you're special and policies don't apply to you. Becoming irate is not going to increase your chances, either.

If I am closer to grab it I will always put it behind my stuff if there is someone else behind me. So of the person in front of me is paying, I've put all my stuff up there and there is someone behind me I'll put it behind. If I'm already up at the CC signature pad and the person wasn't behind me before they got there, they can do it.

I don't carry around bottles full of chaw spit or anything, and I know it's gross, but I try to be as discreet as possible

See, I don't think it's harder in all cases. See, I have two kids. One boy, one girl. 18months apart. So, while you were done with diapers in 3 years, I had to do it for 4 1/2 years. While you had two kids that you could just sit on the floor while you got dinner made, say, prior to them being able to crawl, I had one stumbling around and had to constantly keep him out of shit. I always looked at twins as easier than two siblings that are within two years of each other.

I have 3.

And if you want to look at it like that.....when you had a baby....one person could hold them while the other took a break. You can't do that shit with twins.

I never do either, because I've never experienced a time where I paid for someone else's stuff or vice versa.

We have a guy at work that does the mountain dew bottle thing. Thats why I bring it up.

Also, back in the dayx we had a dude that just spit into a cup. Just a regular Styrofoam coffee cup. One day, he was leaned back in his chair with his legs propped up on the desk, coffee cup full of spit resting on his belly in his hand while he was monitoring a new soldier working for the first time. He called the soldier over to talk to him, and in the middle of the conversation, he had one of those moments where you feel like you're gonna fall backwards in your chair. On instinct, he flailed himself forward to keep from falling, and his hand flung that open cup of spit all over the soldier's uniform. Pretty ****ing gross.

Idiots in a strip mall or shopping center who walk directly out of a store, step off the curb without hesitation into oncoming cars while looking down at their cell phones the entire time.

I'm not reading through to see if I might have replied in here, but just reading the OP brings so many things to mind, as part of my job is being the receptionist.

I cannot make a lawyer magically appear or come out of another meeting or get off the phone just because you came in without an appointment.

No, I do not know exactly what time they will be walking in the door, how long their phone call is going to last, etc. Make an appointment if you want to talk to them at a specific time.

I also cannot put a gun to their head and force them to call you back. All I do is take messages. Do not gripe to me if they haven't called. WTF am I supposed to do about it?

One of our attorneys charges a $100 consult fee (guess what, in civil cases, the free consult isn't just for you to come in and get free legal advice; its to see if the attorney, who has a contingency fee, wants to take your case). Your "just a question or two" will require him giving you legal advice. And, no, I'm not an attorney, so I can't answer it either. If you want your questions answered, make an appointment and pay the fee.

The thing that annoys me the most about people, for now, is their inability to consider other people. I see less and less people holding the door for others, pushing elevator floor buttons, smiling or saying hi when you accidentally make eye contact when you walk past someone, letting people out or over in heavy traffic (I'm guilty of this one), etc.

People that make an abrupt lane change and come into your lane and hit you forcing you to go over the bars of your motorcycle and totaling the bike, leaving your rashed up and having to deal with paperwork for the next two months.

I hate those people.
