They did struggle for a significant period vs. KU but not even close to as much against KSU. I'm not sure what it is that Frank Martin and his players did to make MU uncomfortable, but you can bet other teams will be watching those games.

Sure...but what happens if Robinson's malaise play like he had in the tourney continues? Then all you become is a lesser version of MU.

One thing I want to see is if Robinson's style of play gets him more fouls in the tourney. I could see an official from a conference that plays a finesse style call more fouls on Robinson....and if that happens you guys are screwed. Withey folds like a wet cardboard box when challenged (see both MU games for examples) and you have no one else down low.

What if the Tyshawn Taylor that throws the ball away and plays uncontrolled shows up again? And Elijah Johnson? Do you really want to rely on him? He is as up and down as a teeter-totter.

I can see MU's warts....and acknowledge that a team with power on the blocks is trouble for them. And all it takes is an injury/foul trouble to put MU in trouble.
I know KU can survive a bad shooting night because I've seen them do it many times... and stats-wise, they're in the top 10 of adjusted offense & defense in kenpom. Of course, they could shoot poorly and lose in the first weekend, but Self teams have also beaten teams like Southern Illinois and Davidson in the tournament before, and this year they've won games while shooting under 40% and shooting piss-poor from 3. Yes, depth is an issue... TRob and Taylor need to play well and stay on the floor, and they obviously can't rely on their bench that was like 390th in the country in points.

As far as MU being able to grind it out and win, like I said, I haven't watched enough to really know, but I haven't seen them do it.

So what happens when you get a team that is strong down low. Do you go right at Robinson and get him in foul trouble? Make him play defense and wear him down?

KU's problems are what I outlined in my post to Bearcat.....you have TT who you never know which version is going to show up, just like we have with Dixon. Elijah Johnson can have a great game then a lame game. It doesn't take much to get inside Withey's head....just look at what English did to him, or even Baylor.

I see as many areas of need in KU as I do MU.

If it was that easy to just watch what the Ecokats did to us and copy it, we wouldn't have won 17 Big 12 games. KSU clearly has an edge in terms of personnel and style that works well against some teams and doesn't against others. At this point in the season, it's extremely difficult for a team to just alter their style for an opponent like you are suggesting.

If Mizzou plays a team with a big, deep, and physical front line, they could be in trouble. But we've known that since November.

We shot 49% combined in the two games against KU.

#2 in the Midwest has a good feel to it for Mizzou. They get St. Louis, and they get to keep the chip on their shoulder for even more motivation, although Haith has done a great job getting them to show up, especially after the tough loss in AFH, so I don't think Mizzou needs any more motivation.

Kentucky showed it can lose today. I don't have a problem with being in Kentucky's region...it is what it is. Mizzou earned the Midwest region with their dominant conference tourney, so let's see what happens.

The thing is....even when our best guy has bad nights, another can step up and fill in. We have Pressey, Dixon and English each step up when Denmon has a bad night. But how many 'bad" nights did he really have? Even on a night when he was still nursing a bad ankle he scored 15 on a good Baylor team...

They say when you get into the tourney it is the Senior leadership that carries a team when things are on the line. I would put our Senior group up against any in the land.

Mizzou has senior leadership and great guard play. Those are two very important ingredients to a great tourney run, and a reason to get excited for Tigers fans.

There are more KU fans posting in here than in the KU basketball thread....interesting.

I was thinking KU would get the 4th #1 in Phoenix and Mizzou would get the 1st #2 in St. Louis, but if neither gets a #1, I don't know what will happen.... Lunardi has them both as 2s (just now showing it on espn), but didn't have them placed in regions.

We also hit our free throws, unlike other teams to the west.

Bracketology on the web has Mizzou #2 in St. Louis and KU #2 in Phoenix.

Good point, when you're the top offense in the country, you obviously don't have to worry about a bad shooting night very often... it's all about matchups. Unfortunately, for anyone who likes it when teams score more than 50 points, there are so many Big 10 teams and other teams that grind it out, it's almost unavoidable that a team will be tested in an ugly game.

Yeah, KU fans are willing to talk about someone other than themselves.

Interesting...the ESPN crew just said that the teams with the best chance to make the Final Four form the Big 12 are (in this order)

MU
Baylor
KU
