Some casting news on the BSG prequel "Caprica".

The matriarch of the Graystone family (owners of the corporation who builds the first cylons) will be Paula Malcomson, Trixie from HBO's Deadwood.

The decision I'm happiest about is Joseph Adama will be played by Esai Morales, most recently known as Major Beck from the late CBS show Jericho. Nico Cortez will play young William Adama.

Esai Morales is an excellent actor. He played Ritchie Valens' older brother in LaBamba. Good choice.

I forgot about that. He was also good on Hill Street Blues.

I thought he was great as Major Beck on Jericho. One of my favorite parts of Season 2, and almost made up for losing Gerald McRaney.

Sounds like Caprica is going to be more "soapish" than BSG, but I'll give it a shot.

This week stucks. I finished the initial phase of a project at work on Tuesday, and since I worked last week and will work this weekend, I took today and will take tomorrow off.

So all day I've thought it was Friday. Two more days to wait.

Cool that they're using Nico Cortez, seeing as how he already played young Bill Adama in Razor.

Me too ... though I'm really hoping they start spending less time on the whole "cult of Baltar" story arc. Kind of boring. I don't know where exactly they are going with it, but it seems like they could have got to where they are now in a lot less screen time.

I'd rather see a lot more about the cylon civil war, which must be raging all across their portion of the galaxy.

My money is still on Baltar, regardless of what Ron Moore said in the interview. He is the character that perfectly fits the hybrid's phophecy:

"And the fifth, still in shadow, will claw toward the light, hungering for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering."

That seems to be exactly what is going on with the whole Baltar cult story arc. Also, he (more than any other human we've seen) has the ability to "project" his own reality, which is what Number 6 told him that cylons can do when he was on the base ship -- and which he did on numerous occasions, including when he was being tortured by the cylons in season 3 and earlier when he was being tortured by the colonials (not to mention Head 6).

Possibly, but if he's a skinjob I think he may be a "13th" as someone else hypothisized.

I still think the prophecy fits Tom Zarek, when Roslin dies. Just a hunch.

Great episode tonight. I got chills when Natalie asked Starbuck "Is that enough Human Justice for you?". Anders and the 8 was intense, and it was nice to see Nana Visitor again.

Also, it's creepy when Adama smiles. Really creepy.

Took me about half the episode to figure out who the cancer victim was - drove me nuts up until then because I couldn't place her. I wonder if we'll get any more Star Trek people before it ends?

And yes, great episode. Sucks that we have to wait another week.
