Don't get him started on smoking bans... that's another hot button issue for him.

On my iPhone, the steps I went through to enable flash consisted of (step 1) download iMobileCinema plugin (step 2) watch Flash videos from all sites. It's a simple one time install, just like what you MAY expect from the EVO.

Let's stick with what the device manufacturer gave you... not what you made out of it. What you are saying is that the phone didn't work right .. so you jumped thru hoops to MAKE IT show you FLASH... because , as I have argued... you and many others will run across FLASH content that you want to view while browsing. Thank you for supporting my argument. |

OK then.... Your computer manufacturer didn't give you Flash for you computer. The first time you booted your computer, it didn't work right either. So you're jumping through hoops as well bud.

Apple's closed OS is why I went with the Android OS and bought the Droid. I don't want any company telling me how to use my device and what I can do on it.
And to think, Apple started out as open-source back in the day. Then they became evil and greedy. Apple will fall back to irrelevance as soon as Jobs dies. Which probably isn't too far away. |

You VIOLATED the terms of use for your phone to get it to work... as opposed to downloading an app. Care to explain to everyone here what you had to do to get to that point? There's a reason that less than 8% of all iPhones have been jailbroken. btw... how does it feel that Apple now is waiting on a ruling so that they can SUE you for doing just that? Quote:

And it's humorous that you would call me stupid, when you were the one criticizing Apple's practices in the first place. But once I explained how easy it is to get Flash on my iPhone, you're now warning me of getting sued, instead of appreciating the fact that my actions go against the very thing you so vehemently deplore about Apple. I'm going against Apple's wishes and easily solving the criticism you're piling on Apple, but you'd rather just continue to argue instead of acknowledging legit workarounds.

#2 I appreciate that you did it, if I owned one I would too, I would rather just not own one instead. #3 I am not "warning" you, I am pointing out that the company whose product you are defending is looking for ways to sue you for making it USABLE #4 The lack of FLASH is just one of MANY MANY criticisms of the iPad that I have #5 I have heard (can't verify) that iMobileCinema is extremely buggy (still in beta) and may not work on the iPad at all. #6 we haven't started down the road of ACTUAL Flash apps... which iMobileCinema does NOT play. (although for alot of flash apps I can see that downloading an app from the app store is just the same... for some not so, but alot) |

Of course, many people don't play those types of games and wouldn't care. It still seems like an odd move when all it would take would be one minor software change to make it work. |

Oh, I totally agree. I just think that for those small things, they won't really be missed. It's absolutely a drawback, but there are drawbacks to everything. I mean, the iPad isn't a netbook. My netbook can certainly do things the iPad can't. But the things that the iPad DOES, it does way better than my netbook can.
Reading thousand page PDFs for grad school is a pain in the ass on me netbook (that damn keyboard is always in the way and it's difficult to get into a comfortable position to read where you can still see the screen), but reading it on an iPad is a million times easier. My netbook has HDMI out and doubles as an HTPC, which is something my iPad won't be doing (even though it probably could with the right adapter, it won't do it as well as the netbook can). The battery on the iPad lasts longer than my netbook's battery (which still lasts a respectable 4.5 hours). |
