BossChief, you are going off the deep end here. To suggest -- no, state. You state -- that Geno will have some difficulty learning the WCO verbiage and etc based on that recall portion of the interview is ****ing absurd. Truly.

Yes he did. Yesterday I posted the link to Mooch and Griffin. RGIII nailed everything about it.

You guys mind if I jump in here? WVU grad.... a few things....
1) - I have never heard one peep about Geno having any kind of character issues. You get to hear about which players are the "partiers" and which ones stay away from trouble. I think there are no worries in that aspect. 2) Throwing the ball - IMO, his accuracy is outstanding. I believe someone posted the LSU game in 2011. He made a down field throw to Tavon Austin that was breathtaking. Now, I am sure that every QB gets lucky every once in awhile, but I have seen him thread needles that I thought for sure would be INT's. His second half vs OU this past year was a thing of beauty. This kid has the arm and accuracy and that should never be a worry. 3) His speed - Has very good straight line speed. His time at the combine shows this. But, do not confuse him with RG3(i am also a skins fan) or Wilson or Cam. He really has no lateral moves. Does have a nice eye for picking out small windows in protection when it breaks down and slips out. Plenty of tape shows that he can run away from some defenders, but dont expect any read option from him. 4) Studying the playbook - NO WORRIES on this. Take that mariachi interview and stick it in a sombrero..... It was BS. He knows the game. He is smart, and puts in the time. Will he know the West Coast offense to start out with? No, but it wont take him long, trust me. Holgorson was very complimentary of Geno and the time he put in. Also, Geno was responsible for many of the audibles. The Air Raid really is a simple offense though. 5) So with what I posted, why isnt he the sure fire #1 pick? Well, IMO Geno's biggest problem is handling adversity. WVU started out 5-0... Geno was being touted as running away with the Heisman.... and WVU was a top 5 team his Senior season. Fool's gold.... I was watching the ESPN college football daily show with Dari Nowkah(after we were 5-0)and screaming at the TV when Nowkah was touting WVU as his #1 team in the country. Screaming because I knew it was garbage. Our defense this past year was the worst in the school's history. While everyone was celebrating the 70-63 win over Baylor where Geno threw 8 Td's, I knew it was over. In my 40 years on this planet, I have never seen a secondary in any level of football as bad as ours was. When the losing started, Geno did not handle it well. He started forcing throws, he let the wind conditions in Lubbock vs TT get into his head, and it really wasnt until the Oklahoma game that he started looking "normal" again. But one thing I will say is this.... Put yourself in his shoes.... Sr year.... Interviews with everyone about winning the Heisman... Undefeated.... Going to go high in the draft. What QB wouldnt be living the dream at that point? But our defense was so horrific, that the pressure he put on himself to try and outscore other teams(because that was the only way to win) was just too much. Is Geno Smith the next coming? I dont know that. Personally, I dont think he will be as good as Andrew Luck. But I dont see another QB in this class even close to him. Also, being a Skins fan I have seen plenty of Donovan McNabb and I think his ceiling is higher than Mcnabbs and that isnt homerism... McNabb's accuracy was not the greatest. Good Luck Chief's fans with whatever happens. Alex Smith is a solid QB. I personally dont think he will ever be "great", but he can be better than a game manager if surrounded with very good talent like he was in SF. I did hear a report on the radio just an hour ago on the way home that said a deal for Alex Smith was NOT considered a done deal yet FWIW..... PS - I did have to LOL about the "gang signs" thing vs Texas.... I laugh because WVU is new to the B12 conference and I was not "up to date" on certain traditions. Well, apparently Texas fans get very upset and cry if you flash them the "hook 'em horns" hand sign upside down. Texas fans and some Texas commitments were seated behind our bench in Austin and apparently were riding Geno not stop during the game. Geno flashed them the upside down Horns gesture and they blew up. Their fans were all over our boards trashing Geno for "disrespecting" UT... I had to laugh... Maybe if Texas could coach up all their 5 star recruits, they would win more and not have to worry about being disrespected.... Peace....... |

I find the Texas thing very comical. I like that he was getting under opposing fans nerves. If he came to KC and began taunting Raider fans or Bronco fans I'd fall in love with him.
Also, Geno was a Cowboys fan when he was younger. Not sure that he cared about certain teams during his high school years though. When I say younger I mean middle school. |

I'd like to hear a little more out of the combine on what the Chiefs thought of all the QB's, who they are high on, who they are low on etc.

The expectations of a #1 QB are higher than that of a #10 QB. Look at Blaine Gabbert/Tannehill. Do you think people expected them to be as good as RG3/Luck/Cam?
Also he thinks the Jaguars will take Floyd. And I'm sure his reasoning is "Cus Florida". So yes he's a moron.

Do you think the Dolphins would have selected Tannehill over Luck/RG3? Having the #1 pick is a ****ing blessing, because the guy you want is guaranteed to BE THERE for the taking. |
