To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime

Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...

Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

This is true. I find the "Prime only" check box frequently results in not-Prime items once you get to the end product. So you have to be careful. I think when you click that box, only Prime (or other two-day guaranteed) deals should appear.

I saved $5 using Alexa today. Had to be a prime member to get the deal.

Also scored a $10 credit for using Alexa.

Anyone ever use her to order stuff?

Try PrimeNow. I received a grocery order (Amazon, not Sprouts) in 37 minutes. I'm in Lakewood, so I imagine Denver would be closer.

It is tomorrow. Weird bc tomorrow should belong solely to 7/11 for obvious reasons.

Dane has now made me want to buy the black n decker air fryer. It's only $82. Would be sweet if it's even cheaper tomorrow.

Wirecutter only found 64 good deals out of 7950 items during prime day last year. They'll be scanning all the deals so you don't have to.

Not to mention all the stuff you can find on Amazon you wouldn't find in your local store. I have fixed many of things broken around the house from ordering it off of Amazon. Sprinkler system, garage door springs, washer and dryer parts, furnace parts... Several of these items I would have paid 4x the same amount here locally. Now you could probably find it as cheap/cheaper somewhere else online but I know who I am dealing with when it comes to Amazon. It is a comfort factor.

Prime day last year was a joke in my opinion.

Dude, you'll love it! Guilt free frying!

I have friends that have sprayed a tiny bit of canola oil on certain foods they cook but so far, I haven't found the need.

I made veggie sausage patties for breakfast (along with my egg whites) in the air fryer and they rocked. They actually tasted really awesome and way better than the toaster oven, microwave or a small frying pan.

FYI, I have the black model:

https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-...ords=air+fryer

Oh yeah, and just as a heads up, it took a long time for it to heat up the first few uses (like 10+ minutes) but since then, it's been less than 4 minutes. I've only run it at 400 and most things take 8-10 minutes tops to cook perfectly.

Why not just buy a NuWave oven? It does the exact same thing with much larger capacity and way more options.

Yeah, I've never been all that impressed with any of Amazon's "big deal" days. There are some good deals to be had, for sure, but you have to wade through an epic pile of "meh" to find them.

The B&D Air Fryer was given to me as a Father's Day gift. I had no experience with it prior and I'm not familiar with a NuWave oven.
