To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime

Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...

Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on an echo tonight. Seems like a pretty good deal.

I made veggie sausage patties for breakfast (along with my egg whites) in the air fryer and they rocked. They actually tasted really awesome and way better than the toaster oven, microwave or a small frying pan.

FYI, I have the black model:

https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-...ords=air+fryer

Oh yeah, and just as a heads up, it took a long time for it to heat up the first few uses (like 10+ minutes) but since then, it's been less than 4 minutes. I've only run it at 400 and most things take 8-10 minutes tops to cook perfectly.
This looks awesome. We've never owned a fryer do to trying not to eat fried foods.

What have you done in this, beside fries, that make it worthwhile?

For the kids I've done seasoned curly fries, crinkle fries and Tyson chicken nuggets. All came out excellent and my wife commented on the lack of grease on the curly fries, yet they tasted excellent. I've also cooked Trader Joe's Hash Brown squares, with the same result.

For me, I've been doing Columbus Hickory Smoked Bacon that I purchased at Costco. I haven't had any luck with that bacon in the microwave (which is where I usually cook turkey bacon on a microwave bacon tray) and tried frying it in a pan. In both cases, it came out unevenly cooked or flat out burnt. In the Air Fryer, it's cooked to perfection.

This morning, I tried cooking Morningstar Vegetable Sausage Patties in the AF. Unsurprisingly at this point, they were awesome. Waaaaaaaay better than the microwave, a small frying pan or the toaster oven. Better consistency and flavor.

I think that's it, so far. While I received it on June 20th, I was sick for a few weeks and didn't even open it until July 4th. I plan to try pollack fish sticks for fish tacos and breaded chicken (for a chicken sandwich) in the next week or so. But since I eat egg whites (or a variation, like an omelette) and turkey bacon/veggie sausage every day, that alone is worth it for me.

The breakfast food makes it all worthwhile.

Did anybody find any good deals? I picked up some BCAAs, not really a significant amount of savings, I needed them anyways.

Whatcha find?

They go on sale from time to time. I got mine on sale at Target for $99, but I believe it was a Black Friday deal.
