During their time with the Kansas basketball team, not everything was rosy for the Morris twins.

That’s why it’s worth noting that the Arizona Republic is reporting that Phoenix police say Marcus and Markieff Morris and three others committed felony aggravated assault against a man. The reason: the brothers learned had sent “inappropriate” text messages to their mother.

The twins, who are 25 and play for the Phoenix Suns, deny involvement, according to the story, and there have been no arrests or charges filed.

The alleged assault happened in January, and the Arizona Republic story quoted records as showing Erik Hood suffered a broken nose, a large knot on the back of his head and abrasions.

Hood identified the Morris twins as being part of the altercation, according to the story.

The twins had some legal troubles while at Kansas:

▪ In February 2012, Marcus Morris was cited for misdemeanor battery early Sunday in Lawrence, city prosecutor Jerry Little told the Lawrence Journal-World.

▪ In 2009, the twins were named in a police report, although not specifically as witnesses or victims, after a brawl between Kansas football and basketball players.

▪ In 2008, Markieff Morris was charged with a battery charge for an incident involving a BB gun. A police report said he shot a 47-year-old Wisconsin woman with a plastic BB from his residence window at Jayhawker Towers.

Denver Broncos officials were in contact with cornerback Aqib Talib on Wednesday following a report that he and his brother are under investigation for assault in Dallas.

"We have been in touch with Aqib regarding these reports and will continue to monitor the situation," team spokesman Patrick Smyth told USA TODAY Sports.

Dallas television station WFAA, citing anonymous police sources, reported that Talib and his brother were involved in a physical altercation that included the firing of a gun at a Dallas nightclub.

The brothers were questioned by authorities at another nightclub early Wednesday morning and released. Police towed two vehicles, a Range Rover and a Jaguar, to search for evidence.

This is not the first off-field incident involving Talib.

He was arrested in 2009 for allegedly punching a taxi cab driver in Tampa when he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That incident later earned him a one-game suspension without pay to start the 2010 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He also lost an additional game check.

Talib was indicted on an aggravated assault charge in Texas in 2011. However the charges were dismissed for lack of evidence.

He also served a four-game suspension in 2012 for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy after testing positive for Adderall.

Talib signed a six-year contract worth up to $57 million with the Broncos last year. He made the Pro Bowl in his first season in Denver and is scheduled to make a base salary of $5.5 million this year.
