Alex Smith to ask for release

If no draft picks are involved, does that change your opinion on bringing him in? Draft pick, Smith, Stanzi(?) as your QB's in camp. |

The Smith to Chiefs rumors are starting to heat up (on Twitter at least, where everything is true).
Do I think it's an upgrade? Yes. Would I be happy about it? No.

Don't get too excited yet. Right now, in terms of the Alex Smith rumors, we are ARIZONA, not Kansas City. |

Everyone prepared for the niners as a ball-control, run-first offense. Suddenly, halfway through the season, there is no more game tape on them, because the offense is totally different. I think Alex Smith would have likely led them to the NFC championship anyway, but who knows after that. Genius coaching. That said, I do believe Alex Smith could be successful wherever he goes next. It's not like the guy sucks. He has always had a respectable TD/INT rate. He just hasn't been a playmaker. I don't think he is Matt Cassel. I think Cassel's biggest problem is that he can't throw the ball with any velocity or accuracy. In short, he is a professional quarterback that is back at throwing the ball. That doesn't describe Alex Smith. I am more than happy to have Alex Smith come to KC and start winning games. Get positive vibes rolling, allow the offense to actually develop. Because Jon Baldwin will always be a hopeless turd if he doesn't at least have a chance to catch the ball. He might be a turd, but with a real QB it won't be hopeless. However, the BEST part of Alex Smith coming would be allowing Geno Smith to sit for a year or two and develop. I know that rookies come in kicking ass these days, but I think Geno could actually use the time. I think he could use the coaching. And make him hungry. Everyone knows Geno is a studious, filmroom junkie. With a year of coaching and staying injury-free, he could come out in 2014 and destroy fools. |

It would be a P.R. disaster and he'd be labeled a bust from Day One. I doubt he'd recover from it. If they choose a QB at #1, he HAS to start on opening day. There are no other options. |

Then he's still going to have a year of learning when he gets thrown in. That's 3 years to see what you have in a guy.
If you draft a qb at 1 he better damn well start |

I don't give a shit when my first overall pick starts playing. What I care about is when he stops, and how well he played during that time. Because if his last game is twelve years away with a Lombardi trophy and MVP, then why the hell would I care that he didn't start his first year, or first game? But it is a fair point, and probably realistic to assume, that Alex Smith wouldn't want to go to a team that takes a QB. So, yeah, I will concede that point. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess. |

Meh. Fitzpatrick says Hi. A fail of a QB who scored one of the highest out of all QBs in this league. You can go be a Bills fan and root for him. Our fanbase would instantly be upgraded. Also McElroy a career backup also scored really high. Go be a Jets fan and you can also legitimately root for Tebow. Double the fun! GTFO dude.
