To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime

Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...

Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

For me, I've been doing Columbus Hickory Smoked Bacon that I purchased at Costco. I haven't had any luck with that bacon in the microwave (which is where I usually cook turkey bacon on a microwave bacon tray) and tried frying it in a pan. In both cases, it came out unevenly cooked or flat out burnt. In the Air Fryer, it's cooked to perfection.

This morning, I tried cooking Morningstar Vegetable Sausage Patties in the AF. Unsurprisingly at this point, they were awesome. Waaaaaaaay better than the microwave, a small frying pan or the toaster oven. Better consistency and flavor.

I think that's it, so far. While I received it on June 20th, I was sick for a few weeks and didn't even open it until July 4th. I plan to try pollack fish sticks for fish tacos and breaded chicken (for a chicken sandwich) in the next week or so. But since I eat egg whites (or a variation, like an omelette) and turkey bacon/veggie sausage every day, that alone is worth it for me.

The breakfast food makes it all worthwhile.

This is a great cookbook.

I have the bigger concept of those with the CharBroil Big E-Z grill. I've used it a couple times for turkey and you can hardly tell the difference vs. deep frying one.

I love my amazon prime, but I agree that prime day was a joke. There was nothing I saw that I could not live without.

I was thinking of buying the new kindle oasis, but it was only 20 bucks off. All of the deals were on the fire tablets. I love the e-ink on the kindle readers...but not for 300 bucks.

I meant to look back and I think I missed a pretty good deal. A Coleman Montata 8-person tent for only $85 I think.. usually $180.

Wouldn't have hurt to have another tent.

That's gotta suck. I ordered a particularly heavy package a couple of weeks ago and thought about how the UPS guy must have been cussing me as he carried it up to the porch.

OTOH, you must be in tremendous shape.

While it has to suck a bit for mailmen on Prime day, the rest of the year they should be thanking Amazon for keeping their job from disappearing.

I decided to get this one bc it was half the price of the amazon airfryer. Made some potatoes, veggies and salmon last night with it.

Really recommend this. It enhances the taste.

pantry is a joke. The markup is so damn high I'd rather just deal with going to the store. They don't even try to compete in pantry.

The USPS would never be able to keep up with the Amazon demand by themselves.

They hire an army of independent contractors do do a ton of package deliveries. Its called Amazon Flex

Had $5 off Prime Pantry from doing no-rush shipping. However, if you don't order an insane amount and "fill your box," you pay $5.99 for shipping. You don't have to fill your box to get free shipping if you buy 5 qualifying items, however. This is a short list of items and all very random.

It's a ****ed up system and not something I'll use much. The prices are mostly terrible too.
