Former Chiefs cornerback Albert Lewis is also a semifinalist for the first time, guard Will Shields, and senior nominee — former Chiefs nose tackle Curley Culp nominated.

James Hasty and Dale Carter would be more worthy picks.

Sadly and interestingly, there are a few things at play here. Those first 4 seasons were purely magical, then Brian Griese essentially ends it for him the season after Elway retired.
TD did more in 4 seasons than many RBs achieve in a 10 year career. At the time, many said "yeah that's great, but he doesn't have longevity". So, you add a few years on after the injury and while you get 7 years... it can water down stats if you view them as BigCatDaddy did. Doesn't tell the tale though. Injuries cut his career short, but if healthy ... and given the choice between TD, Thurman Thomas, Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis and a host of others... give me Terrell Davis. 1995 - 1,117 yds / 7 TD / 49 rec - 367 yds - 1 TD 1996 - 1,538 yds / 13 TD / 36 rec -310 yds - 2 TD 1997 - 1,750 yds / 15 TD / 42 rec - 287 yds 1998 - 2,008 yds / 21 TD / 25 rec - 217 yds - 2 TD One 2K rushing season Two 2K total yard seasons 4 Seasons (61 games started) - 6,613 Rushing Yds / 56 TD / 1,181 Rec Yds / 5 TDs In 1996, 1997 and 1998 he played in 8 Playoff Games. TD's stats in 8 playoff games are 1,140 yards rushing / 12 TD / 19 rec - 131 yds TD had 7 100+ yd rushing games, 4 of those were over 150 yds 1999 - season ending injury in Game #4 (again, thank you Griese) 1999 - 211 yds / 2 TD / 3 rec - 26 yds 2000 - 282 yds / 2 TD / 2 rec - 4 yds 2001 - 701 yds / 0 TD / 12 rec - 69 yds 1996 NFL AP Offensive Player of the Year 1997 NFLSuper Bowl MVP1998 NFL AP MVP1998 NFL PFWA MVP1998 NFL AP Offensive Player of the Year 3X Pro Bowl & 3X NFL All Pro 1996, 1997, 1998 So, yeah... he was a damn great player for a short period of time, thanks to injury and Brian Griese.

Only Jim Brown and Eric Dickerson can match what TD did his first four years in the league.... TD is one of the 5 best to ever play RB in the NFL. If he would have had a healthy career like Emmit Smith all of the records would belong to TD.

If Terrell Davis deserves it, so does Priest Holmes.
And Priest Holmes does not deserve it. Priest had more career yards. He had 3, 2000 total yards seasons. 26 more TDs than Davis. Suck it, Homo |

those guys also got stronger as their careers went on... there's no ****ing way he gets stronger than that even IF he stays healthy. he'd have broken down pretty rapidly anyway, they rode the **** out of that horse (get it? horse? bronco? nay!)
it would be more accurate to compare those players' best four year stretches against terrell davis, honestly. also, that blocking scheme made guys far more than they really were--olandis gary and mike anderson say 'hey.' |
