Don't know her at all, so I'll not make a snap judgement. She's a lovely girl from the pictures I've seen, hope they go for a full physical transformation, and don't just cut/dye her hair, paint her fingernails black, and count on a surly look to make her "dark." I have faith in Fincher. I will see Social Network, and then make my snap judgement! |

The Tillman Story got an R rating for language. The distributor will have to do some scrambling to get it screens because of that (R rated and documentary usually spells art houses only,) but hopefully it will be available enough for people who want to see it to have access.
I am wholly on the family's side that they were treated poorly, but I'd like to see an examination of the publicity and cover up motivations independent of that emotion. There is something very important to learn here. It may not be possible since this is his mother's story, and if that is the case I'll watch this one for what it is and hope someone does another documentary about the press and military connection in this story. |

I watched Valhalla Rising. Really strange, really beautiful, but one annoying sound effect within the score that just about made me turn off the movie. And The Killer Inside Me, a Jim Thompson novel brought to screen again to some success by a director who makes really interesting choices, but seemed to keep a distance from the characters in this one. Ultimately, for me, the Jim Thompsonness overpowers the positive contributions, like a strong performance by Casey Affleck, and makes it a hard sell. The Grifters and After Dark, My Sweet both were able to overcome the misogyny and still reveal a dark and textured character because the women were well crafted. Neither Kate Hudson nor Jessica Alba gave this enough to reveal more than surface qualities. Totally love the access to the little movies at home, even at 7 dollars for a pay per view. HD and on my schedule = Rockin! |

Some might argue that the messages were so overt as to be preachy, but I would disagree. Quote:
I do, though, disagree with the Eternal Sunshine rip off comment. Other than color of hair, I don't see many similarities. I don't consider hair color and eccentricity to be enough to claim rip off. Only problem with the visuals was the title sequence. I was not impressed and actually pretty sure they need epileptic warnings.

I cannot explain it but I have the urge to see Pilgrim again. I did find another con for the movie. Not. Enough. Kendricks.

Watched Changling the other night. That was a lot different then I had expected.
