Hey, the majority of people in the NFL, Kansas City, the pundits, etc, all thought Clark hit a home run with that one. Everyone makes mistakes. It'd be like my patients questioning the dental materials I use and calling me a dumbass if I don't use some brand they like. Or calling your mechanic a dipshit because they use a brand of lubricant you aren't familiar with. Let the experts be the experts. If it blows up in their face, then be critical of them for it (ala Pioli).

Remind me never to go to you even if you're the last dentist on earth. |

Not really. Comparing any type of medical doctor and his/her level of expertise to a FO Exec. for a professional franchise is ridiculous.

I'm not comparing them. I'm trying to illustrate the obviouse fact that people in the FO are paid to scout players and go over tape from angles and sources that people on CP don't, and won't ever see. They interview players and have direct insight about players from their college coaches. And yet, if they don't do what some shmo on CP wants them to do, said schmo will be pissed at them. why so difficult to understand.

And since my return, I've toned down the hyperbole considerably. I've grown tired and weary of calling people names just because they are either not as informed or have a different opinion from mine. Plus, I've known Tooge since we were 12 or 13 years old. He's good people and far from the village idiot. |

I'm not a mechanic, but I'm restoring an old jeep. I'd love to have the knowledge of a mechanic while I was doing it, but I'm having to learn as I go. I'd think after twenty such restorations, I'd probably have a pretty good handle on what I'm doing. It has nothing to do with health. Yes, I do thousands of intricate procedures a year, and yes, it takes some important decision making to do it correctly 100 percent of the time. You are clueless. Will someone explain this to SNR? |

Let's say the field of dentistry had a success rate of operations the same as a GM making decisions for a football team. I'll bet you people wouldn't trust dentists so much. And yes, they WOULD question every single procedure, technique, and brand of tool that you use. They'd demand accountability. And above all, they themselves would try to learn as much as they could about dentistry. Thankfully the field of dentistry is not that way. But the NFL Draft IS that way. It's a crapshoot. Even the great GMs (like hopefully Dorsey) are lucky to get a 50% return on any given draft. It's a case where quite often fans and sports bloggers are just as successful at picking out really good football players as professional scouts/GMs/experts. If you don't believe me, check out some of the teams drafted by CP's own in the Chiefs Planet Mock Draft we hold every year. That doesn't mean fans are capable of doing what Dorsey does, but it DOES mean that we're educated in his field just enough to be skeptical consumers of the product he serves us (the Chiefs football team). We're the ones who buy the tickets, merchandise, and spend our Sundays watching football and talking about it on the internet. It's enough of an investment that we should absolutely question his decision-making. And you know what? More often than not we'll be right just as often as we're wrong. The exact same percentage you see from most NFL executives. |
