Come here to get assigned to relive one year of your life.

Hypothetical: you're in New Orleans and you go to that little square where all of the palm readers hang out. You find the most attractive palm reader in the group and pay her $20 so she'll hold your hand for a few minutes.

She deftly palms your $20, then has you hold out your hand. When you do, her dark Romany eyes go wide and she gasps. She begins calling out in Armenian or Creole, you're not sure which, and other palm readers converge on you. Everyone looks at your palms and begins muttering oaths and prayers.

She asks for another $20 to tell you something special, and you give it to her. She then explains that your life line has a loop, which means that you can go back and relive one year of your life, with a specific set of rules.

She asks for another $20 to explain the rules, and you comply. She then tells you that you...

1. can relive a year, beginning and ending on your birthday,
2. make any different decisions you want, and basically have free will.
3. maintain your current personality and knowledge when you go back.

However,

3. at the end of the year, any debts you accrued will be carried forth for payment in the present day.
4. you cannot gamble or invest money or otherwise financially benefit from your knowledge of the future.
5. at the end of the year, you'll come back to the present and there will be no changes or ramifications to your decisions except those noted in other rules.
6. you can't pick the year. It'll get randomly selected for you, with the most likely year being 18 but every year having a probability of being selected.

For another $20, she'll tell you the incantation to say, and you'll go back.

If you're interested, post in this thread with your current age, and I'll assign you a year to relive. Let us know what you might do differently, and whether it would be an enjoyable year to relive.

You’re only 29?

You post like a mid life crisis 40-something year old divorcee who’s a single father of teenage twin girls, who is working in the fast food industry.

Hmm, I would have never dated the crazy lithium gobbling chick I was dating at 34 and probably would have stroked her best friend instead. Other than that, it was a great year.

Probably would have kept my job at Pizza Hut, where the manager used to leave another buddy and I to close up and we'd eat pizza, drink beer, and play the Asteroids table top game. I quit because I hated that we had to stay open til 11, LOL. I could have had that gig through college. FAIL.

Pretty much everything else was pretty damned great. Oh to be 16 again. Maybe for just a few days.
If a person could have a career playing asteroids, I would have gone that route.
