Defense narrative is wrong on this game

Chiefs lost because on 10 offensive possessions they scored 13 points. They had plenty of possessions. When you can't convert 1st downs your TOP suffers. It's simply wrong that Indys rush game was why they won. Chiefs gave up 4 ypc, league average, and only 330 total.

Lots of running requires long drives with many opportunities to be stopped, which the chiefs did every drive except the first. Unless you convert those to TDs you aren't scoring enough to win in the modern NFL without a great defense. 19 points won't get it done.

Even in the AFCCG the chiefs only yielded 3.7 ypc. But they couldn't stop the short pass game and gave up 7 TDs. This year's team is getting stops at key times the last two weeks. This week they eliminated big plays except the PI.

The defense has not been good. But it's been good enough to be 5-0, and is getting better. Online is trash, and is not helped by Andy never running the ball or enough screens/draws to keep the opposing D line honest. We get Mo next week and hopefully a trade or two to add a DB and possibly front 7 piece. Chiefs are gonna getcha, yarhoooo.

Injuries or no injuries, good teams win these games just look at the Pats and the laundry list of injuries they have.
Well fold up the tents and quit the season then?

Not sure anyone is calling for that. But lets put away the rainbow and unicorn preparation for a parade in February. This team could get pushed around by a few of the lingerie league teams. THAT is where the frustration lies. Consistently getting " out toughed" is getting old.

Both sucked, but the offense was worse when you consider their potential.

The injuries excuse is bullshit when you take into account the injuries that the Colts had on defense as well.

Mahomes and Reid need to get this figured out and quick. Next week is a playoff game as far as I’m concerned. You can’t lose AFC games at home.

I get that some people are saying that this year is all about the postseason. That’s true, but we can’t go into the postseason as the 3 or 4 seed. That would mean having to play 3 games, 2 of which would be on the road, to get to the Super Bowl. We need to be the 1 or 2 seed to have a chance.

The offense does not get a pass in this game.

They played their part in this loss.

How didn't they? The offense gave up a fumble too and the defense held it to a FG. The defense wasnt amazing but it was a hell of alot better than our offense.

The defense forced an int and on 9 possessions the D only let up one TD

We just were without our wr1 and wr2. Its gonna happen

Both teams full strength we win. We have scored loads of points this year on better defenses than the Colts have.

Only gave up 330 yards because they had a 50+ yard penalty on a scoring drive for the Colts. Hidden yards.

Horrible game by both sides of the ball, but not being able to get any stops and letting them run at will was a huge problem.

The defense was hot garbage. We said all year long we do not want to lose TOP. We were told with guys like okafor and ogbah, these guys suck at rushing the passer but they can stop the run. Id rather give up quick points than take our offense totally out of rhythm. It's also a recipe for disaster late games because we're asking a tired defense to make late stops. Our defense isn't managing games for Alex Smith anymore.

Congrats to the Defense for holding them to field goals, but can you really give them credit for anything more than that? (That is rhetorical, as the answer is no)

Offense, line hasn't blocked well lately at all, last week 3 man pressure was getting to us, this week gave up at least 3 sacks. Receivers were dropping passes, and turning the ball over. And penalties everywhere.
