I had my kids names picked out probably 16 years before they were born.
Hannah & Gage. No theme just what I knew I wanted.

First two boys have same first letter and, as I recall that was intentional. The 3rd child was just a name we liked after looking up baby names for awhile.

Nice children but I've always found that odd...

Speaking of middle names, my first born has my middle name. Second born has my wife's great uncle's (whom she loved very much) middle name. My 3rd has my wife's middle name. So there's another theme.

I have four daughters and all of their first names end in the letter "a." It wasn't originally planned, but after #3, we had to follow the pattern with the youngest. Also, each kid has some part of their name (usually their middle name) that comes from another family member, living or deceased. The exception is my oldest who is named after my Paternal Grandmother and my Mother..

If things had worked out SLIGHTLY differently, we would've had a "Russian Tsars" theme for my two boys, but it didn't work out that way.
Not that we said to ourselves "hey, let's name our kids after Russian Tsars", but rather there were a few names that we really liked, and they happened to be the names of Tsars.

I remember a family in my town when I was growing up -- the Johnsons, Jacksons, something like that.
Like 8 kids, all with a first name beginning with "J". Jason, John, Jessica, Jeremy, Joshua, etc. You get what I'm saying. Their house had big letter "J"s all over it too. Just...wow.

Our convention has multiple rules:
1. First name after a biblical character with a great story to tell. For example, Joshua, the most faithful of all Israel. Has a great story to the name. 2. No two in the family have the same first initial. 3. Middle names are family names. |

Ours all have the same middle initial. That's is all.
