You know before you go or accept a scholarship what they are. And if you don't want to accept it, you don't have to. You can go to europe or china and make lots of money playing ball if you are a Top 30 player. You can just hang out and train and not even go to school to prep for the NBA draft. You can now even go to the G-league and get upwards of $100,000.

The NCAA doesn't have to do anything. They don't have to pay players. They don't have to do anything you think they should do. 99% of student athletes are OVER compensated for their role in college athletics. Why do we fret over the 30 that we like to cry about being exploited? There is lots of hidden value in a scholarship. Free room and board. Stipend. Free travel to Maui, NY, Atlantis and many other places. All-Star status on campus.. Get to use the best facilities. Get some of the best coaching and training in the world.
No shit? That’s definitely hidden value.

When cam Newtons dad accepted money, the NCAA made a rule that you dont have to prove if the student athlete knew it or not. Because obviously that is a huge loophole. People were justifiably bothered that Newton & Auburn got to skate. This is not a surprise SDS was ruled ineligible. Not in the slightest.

That’s an interesting point. I don’t follow this very closely so it adds a big piece of perspective that I was missing.

This is the issue, people from sides of the fence see's it both ways. It sucks, but how the hell can you police it any differently than how it is now, going to take some time to seek into the sports world of cheating.

If I'm not mistaken the penalty for this is a four game suspension and he was given much more by the NCAA.
