GIVE TYNES A BREAK!

It makes me mad that everyone is ready to crucify this guy everytime he misses a fg... its going to happen... get over it... there is no one better and he will win a few games for us this year...

20 Kickers tried FG this weekend - 6 missed.
Kickers that missed FG and XP this week other than Tynes:

Josh Scobee (1 FG)
Adam Vinatieri (1 XP)
Mike Nugent (1 FG)
Matt Stover (3 FG)
Sebastian Janikowski (1 FG)
Rob Bironas (1 FG)

Kickers that didnt even try a FG this week (not including MNF K): 5

Actually I did some more digging:

First 5 years for Elam:

1993 - 26-35
1994 - 30-37
1995 - 31-38
1996 - 21-28
1997 - 26-36

188 games total - lifetime 79%

Adam Vinitieri - Probably best K out there

1996 - 27-35
1997 - 25-29
1998 - 31-39
1999 - 26-33
2000 - 27-33

144 games total 82% Lifetime

Ryan Longwell

1997 24-30
1998 29-33
1999 25-30
2000 33-38
2001 20-31

128 Total Games 82 % Lifetime....

But yea... Tynes w/ 17 games under his belt will not amount to anything...

There's a reason their kick returner is at the 20 before our coverage gets downfield, and it's NOT because our coverage guys are slow.
I musta missed that. I know he had a couple that were decent. At least one was inside the g/l, and I think another was inside the 5. I do remember at least 1 stinky K/O. Dammit!! Ya got me defending a kicker!
The coverage unit was less than spectacular yesterday (during punts too).

The thing that bugs me with Tynes is his consistency problems.

I mean, he comes in and hits the 41 yarder, and the 38 yarder, with the outcome of the game still up in the air.

Then he comes out, the game is well in hand. ZERO pressure, at home, gorgeous day, from 31 yards out and doesnt even get close. That kind of stuff is inexcusable.
