Yeah but Glass forced Baird to spend money because he was sick of people breathing down his neck over revenue sharing money, despite the fact we're still a couple years away from winning the division. Baird had to fly all over God's green earth convincing people to actually sign here, it's amazing he did as well as he did. Just like Paul Byrd, we offered him way more than he accepted from Cleveland. I guarantee you Baird's original plan was not to have Joe Mays in our rotation. Heck if our other starters could stay healthy for any period of time he might not have been in it anyway.

Right now our top $ player is 3-33 on the season. I was never for keeping hm anyway. I would of cut Sweeney before Dye and made a real run at Beltran.

If it wasn't for that miracle 2003 season, Sweeney wouldn't be here.

Yeah, he pitched about 30 games for the Angels last year. Had a 1-0 record, 3.89 ERA, 14 BB, 30 K, opponents hit .219 off him... not complete earth shattering numbers but decent.

Well what other teams just have players fall in their laps? Baird didn't want to pay Kenny Rogers. Baird didn't want to pay Dye. Baird didn't want to pay Damon, Beltran, White

Instead we get Sweeney, Juan Gone, Benito Pass Me The Needle, Joe Mays

Baird has 2 long term goods going in DeJesus and Mcdougal. Everyone else is weak or old or both.

Yeah right. We'd had to pay Beltran $200 million dollars to get him to stay in KC. People keep on saying that for eternity but that was a pipe dream... was not going to happen.

No way we would've been able to keep Dye and Beltran, as well as Damon, they wouldn't have signed here again.....Dye might've if out of any of them.

Mays is on fire. Konerko and Dye down on strikes. Sign him long term.

Ok maybe so. But Dye we could of kept. We could of gone after Bartolo Cologn...not the best but an upgrade none the less. I was for trading Damon for some good pitching. DeJesus is just as good defensivley and probably with the bat. Just not as fast on the bases.

You think Baird didn't want to pay Beltran? Are you nuts? Why wouldn't he? Boras was never going to work with him on that. We offered Paul Byrd the same type of money, actually more total dollars than the Tigers actually gave to Kenny Rogers. You are playing really fast and loose with the facts here.
