Now, I agree with you, he needs to be a team player, and do what the team needs him to do.
I wouldn't but I understand the temptation to do so. In fact, I hope storied programs keep on doing it as I believe it will damage them more than help them in most cases. I just think it takes more than one year to form a team.

It does - thats why you have to get the 3/4 star talent to form core of players that will stay all 4 years. But to have talent like Michael Beasley or OJ Mayo for one year is worth it.

Obviously, this is typical Bob THUGGINS. I knew it was just a matter of time before....................oh, wait. This was KU? Nothing to see here. This was a Roy Williams recruit. Move along.............

Okay, this is just plain idiotic. KU was a very young team in the Arizona game. Because of the fact that they were very young, they didn't have the cohesion of an older and more experienced team like Arizona was. It wasn't due to KU throwing away players. It was due to guys graduating. Geez, get a clue.

The fact of the matter is that Wichita State would take any of these recruits as well...they just aren't ever in the running. Turgeon wouldn't pass up an opportunity to take anyone off of KU's roster. It's easy for you to say, in hindsight, but that's what make you an asshat, Chiefaroo. These guys are all young when they are being recruited, and they have a ton of maturing to do. Unfortunately, some never mature. It's a problem all over the country, but it's exemplified when it happens at one of the best programs in the nation. KU will move on from this and be just fine.

Good lord they're ****ing freshman at the time playing half way across the world against a very good team in their first reg season game. KU gelled probably more so than any team in the nation. No one thought they would win as many games as they did last season. Beating KY at Rupp, winning both the conference title and tourney. Did you even watch college bball last season? Are you saying that Brandon Rush isn't a team player?

They beat UK in Lawrence last year, FWIW.

He would take some of them. Listen, I've talked to the guy over a dinner table and he's all about the program and winning just like Larry Brown and Roy were. That being said last year a kid named Jared Young was on the team and got out of line in the locker room and Turg. benched him for several games. Once he got reinstated he promptly got into an argument with Turg. after a victory in the tunnel because he didn't get enough PT (Turg tried to talk to him and Young physically pushed Turg. away). He got kicked off the team the next day. His backup was a 4th year walk on who had to play key minutes from January on. Don't give me that BS. I've seen it handled correctly first hand. Turg. learned this from Brown and maybe Roy. Self isn't from the same coaching tree and it shows.

They sucked last year. Relatively speaking, of course.

KU didn't gel all that well. WSU gelled much better than KU. Yes, I watched KU play a lot and always have. Fact is TX was overrated (and KU still got shelled in TX) as was the entire Big12 last year and the tournament proved it.

He sat on his bench next to Turg. but did he follow him around in the pros ala Turg. and did he run Brown's FF team? No. He's a step child at best.
