VARSITY
Hindsight poll: Should King Carl hired Mike McCarthy instead of Herm?

We had our choice of any coach that off season. The Chiefs job was considered the best of all the open NFL jobs.

Should have King Carl hired McCarthy over Herm? Or someone else other than those two former Chiefs assistants?

Is McCarthy getting credit for Farve's rebirth? Is he resonsible for the Packer rebirth?

Is it too early to decide on Herm yet?

You won't get any argument from me on that point, Mr. Chiefnj2. Then again, I almost asked for someone to pass the koolaid when Sims talked about how nobody with the Chiefs would work with him - you know, to help him get better. Then he goes to the Bucs and gets soundly trampled on every snap.

I would rate those problems something like this; 70% poor drafting/evaluation and 40% poor player development. You have to give 110% to be this bad at it.

By the way, did you ever notice that a "%" sign looks like the numbers "9" and "6" smushed together?

He's got the youngest team in the NFL and he's coaching them up. Favre has stated that he'd never studied film or listened to coaches until this past offseason. He wanted to make his (possible) last season memorable.

Additionally, Mac may not have an equal record with Aaron Rodgers at QB but when Rodgers has played this year, he has looked very good.

Green Bay was built properly. A solid GM in Ted Thompson, a young team and a solid coach who preaches sound football.

They're going to be very good for a very long time, regardless of whether or not Favre retires this season.

I was for Jeff Fisher at that point, and if he couldn't be pried away, I wanted Mike Singletary.

Still wondering why Singletary isn't a NFL head coach.

And he's not being mentioned thus far this year either, TMK.

Wow. I'd never heard that (the bolded section), Mr. DaneMcCloud. I guess you could take that a couple of ways - and one of them isn't very favorable to Fa-vah-ra.

Clearly, the Packers have approached things well over the past several seasons in terms of building with youth. Offensively, they have a tremendous advantage in that they have an all-pro, HOF-bound veteran at quarterback, though. That makes a huge difference in how quickly they can get their offense on track - even with young players. It's a little more difficult when your most experienced, veteran guy on offense is the tight end. Nevertheless, we could learn a lot from them.

One thing is obvious, however. As an organization, their ultimate goal isn't to merely have a winning season or make the playoffs. These guys like going to the Super Bowl.

Uh if you have watched them play, it's pretty safe to say that Harris and Woodson are far from over the hill.

Gruden wasn't worth it. BFD, he coached some other guy's team to the Super Bowl once. Since then he's done nothing.
