They actually wanted to give Abrams more time for reshoots, VFX and editing.
There were several scenes where he wanted to change the dialogue during filming but due to the writer's strike, he wasn't allowed to make any changes during the initial shooting (because the script was turned in before the strike). Honestly, I think it will make for a better picture. I know they were still working on the VFX as recently as a few weeks ago so it would have been rushing it to get it out on Christmas day. This film is way too important to Paramount (especially after Dreamworks left and its properties like Shrek) for Paramount to screw up. |
