The Broncos futility continues

I didn't see this posted yesterday.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/traini...ohn&id=4418733

Broncos in tough spot with Marshall

If you thought Josh McDaniels was in a tough spot with the Jay Cutler trade, don't look now.

The Brandon Marshall situation might be worse. The trust between Marshall and the Broncos has been broken on both sides. Marshall doesn't trust the trainers; he doesn't trust the organization. On the flip side, the Broncos don't trust him enough to offer him a contract extension. Trading him would set more precedents for players who might want to leave the Broncos.

What the Broncos need is a face-saving angel, a team willing to trade the equivalent of a No. 1 and No. 4 pick to resolve this situation. Watching the Broncos play the Seahawks on Saturday night, I think the Broncos can get by with three- and four-receiver sets that feature Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Stokley and Chad Jackson.

That group of receivers might not be tall, but it's solid enough for Kyle Orton, who is going to operate a quick passing offense out of three- and five-step drops. The problem facing the Broncos is that because their defense is suspect, they probably are going to play a lot of shootouts. Orton is good, but I don't see him winning three games in which the defense surrendered 30 or more points, as Cutler did last season.

Plus, starting in Week 4, the Broncos face an eight-game stretch in which it's going to be hard to win many games. From Oct. 4 to Nov. 26, they face Dallas, New England, San Diego, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington, San Diego and the Giants. They could lose all eight. Getting value for Marshall, who is in the final year of his contract, is the wise thing to do if McDaniels is going to build the Broncos back into a playoff team.

Marshall would be a great fit on the Ravens or the Jets. If neither team -- or another suitor -- offers a No. 1 and a No. 4, the Broncos will have to keep him, even though his attitude might cause his productivity to drop.

LOL.... wow... great 'sources'... really great insight there.

Moreno is smaller than 217. He already has a sprained MCL. Will most likely miss the rest of the preseason.

Brody Croyle has lasted longer in the preseason than Moreno.... that's a bad sign.

I am not hung up on that left handed pass like Chiefs fans are. Anyone who knows football would know that was a better decision than taking a sack.
Sorry, I had to take him off 'ignore'. This shit is hilarious!

It still destroys your original point.

Not to mention, average starting position.

This week does make for some interesting drama.

Now I know what other AFC West fans see when they read BarrysKoolAid's posts....ugh....

There's really nothing you can say or do to change the mind of a hardcore homer. You can warn them continuously that their team is going to epically suck, but it never gets through. The only way he'll learn is by watching his team go 1-10 through Week 12 while the rest of us laugh a hearty laugh. Of course, KnowNothing will no longer be around here at that point.

Yep Knowshon has a 1-2 week injury. But he didn't have a significant injury in college and rarely takes a big shot. He will be ready week 1 of the regular season, and is the favorite to win rookie of the year.

Um... just because you and all your circle jerking Bronco Buddies talk about him while you dutch rudder each other doesn't make him the favorite to win rookie of the year.

Oh, and considering the injury occurred a week and a half ago and he isn't supposed to be back until the start of the season, which is two and a half weeks away.

Um, that's four weeks, dumba$$.

Dude. McDaniels isn't going to throw him into a game before week 1. Knowshon should start practicing sometime this week.

Yeah, Cutler had more interceptions. It is amazing what happens when the defense sucks eggs and you have to try to win a game.

Moreno is a good back. No dispute there. He is NOT LT. LT isn't 205lbs. LT is 220lbs. There is a huge difference there.

Moreno isn't as fast, he isn't as big, and he doesn't catch the ball as well. LT ran a 4.46. Moreno ran a 4.61.

As a UGA observer, Moreno is a good back and has good vision. But, he isn't the home run threat that LT is. He isn't as big as LT is. You took a small slow back in the first round.

You traded what is likely to be a top five pick for an undersized corner in the second round.

You traded away a franchise QB that was 26 years old, that would have been a starter for 2/3's of the league.

You got a guy that would have been a backup on nearly every other team in the league in Orton. I am really struggling to think of any other team besides Denver and San Fran that might actually start Orton.

And, YOU think you had a 'great' offseason.

Hey, this year should be fun. I hope you stick around.
Accurate, I still don't understand why he was considered the top back in the draft.

It is good you have faith in Orton and I to am glad the trade was made. Better to have a weak armed game manager than a strong armed gun slinger. Who likes watching their team have to rely on the gun slinger to make a come back weak after weak. Live by the gun die by the gun. So much safer to just manage the game.

By the way, as long as you have Orton you don't need Brandon Marshall. Orton doesn't really have the arm to take advantage of any down field threats so there is no need to give in to him. Broncos just need to send him home without pay until he learns to behave. When you are trying to manage games you don't need the distraction.

I know there has been threads about this before, but what was the CP consensus about signing that idiot?

Guessing it was about the same as signing Charles Rodgers....hopefully.
