Oregon has awesome facilities and well NIKE is huge. His staff would get paid more etc as well not just him. Plus the recruits are probably better locally around there and the surrounding states. It is definetly a job he'd be dumb to not atleast listen. I really think he stays and of course hope he does. His value has definetly gone up, again. MU better do everything they can and he probably should get some sort of raise now.

Missouri Doesn't Need to "Show Anderson the Money" Again By Mike DeArmond - Posted on 16 April 2010 Sometimes you can overplay your hand, even when you’re holding a full house. That, in my opinion, is what Mike Anderson is doing in remaining silent about whether he intends to remain as Missouri’s basketball coach or to seriously consider and perhaps ultimately take the money being waved around by Oregon. Anderson is holding a nationally-hyped recruiting class of at least five players. I’m not certain if one of the early signees - Kadeem Green, who ripped up an ankle - is going to ultimately wind up at Mizzou. But in juco All-Americans Ricardo Ratliffe and Matt Pressey, and in highly-ranked Texans Tony Mitchell and Phil Pressey plus homegrown Ricky Kreklow, Anderson has one of the strongest recruiting classes in the country and perhaps THE strongest recruiting class at Missouri since the Jon Sundvold and Steve Stipanovich days of the 1970s. Throw in returning players like Kim English and Laurence Bowers and Marcus Denmon and Michael Dixon and Anderson’s 2010 Missouri team might be the strongest Missouri has ever had. So what, I’ve been asking a lot of people who support Missouri athletics financially and emotionally, is Anderson doing by not squelching the speculation he may take $3 million and run off to be the head quacker of a dysfunctional Oregon Ducks basketball program? I’ll tell you what. He’s ticking a bunch of people off. Eleven months ago - deservedly after an Elite Eight run - Anderson’s contract was redone. He got seven years. He got $1.55 million a year guaranteed. He got another $200,000 per season held as an annuity he would receive for completing his contract at Missouri. Now - the longer Anderson lets talks with Oregon go on - the more it looks as if Anderson is crying “Show Me The Money” less than a year after Missouri did just that. And while some who believe Mike Anderson is the only coach to be able to win at Missouri right now would scream, here’s some advice for the MU athletic and academic administration. Don’t give Anderson a penny more than he is due under his current contract. Not now. Not in response to the threat that Anderson might go elsewhere for more money. And here is why: Cave now and you’ll set a precedent. Show Mike Anderson the money now and what’s to prevent him from demanding you show him more money after next season when the Arkansas job is likely open. Even if this game of hardball results in Anderson taking the Oregon job, then you still have signed and sealed that top recruiting class. No reason to allow a single recruit to leave along with Anderson. No NCAA rule that requires that. Perhaps - because of Anderson’s close relationship with the Pressey family, having been a college teammate of Matt and Phil’s father - Missouri turns magnanimous and gives the Presseys a release. You could see the family - because of the relationship with Mike Anderson - saying the sons would sit out a year and then go with Anderson. There is no such relationship between Anderson and the other four signees. Finally, there is the concern that because Anderson has installed his nearly unique uptempo and smothering defensive style of basketball at Mizzou that the players he’s coached up there would suddenly forget how to play that way. Hey, once you know how to ride a bike, you know how to ride a bike. If Anderson leaves, simply make Matt Zimmerman or Melvin Watkins your head coach, play the same way with a few individual adjustments and probably save yourself some money on the head coaching salary. If, after being confronted with that sort of stance from Missouri, Mike Anderson wants to take his ball and go off to try to rebuild an Oregon program whose only obvious asset is Phil Knight and his Nike money. . . Well, great. You’ve just become a school’s fourth or fifth choice to coach its basketball team. The only way you’re going to play in the NCAA Tournament in the near term is if the field really does expand to 96 teams. And knowing how NCAA Tournament pairings work out, a Mike Anderson-coached Oregon team might just wind up playing a Mike Anderson-built Missouri team with a real chip on its shoulder. As far as killing MU's future recruiting, 100% agree.

It's kind of silly to not assume that a coach in a recruiting battle won't bring out the LOI incidents in school's recent history. If it affects even one recruit's decision, it has hurt your school.

It's the same with holding recruits to LOI's. Otherwise somebody could provide a citation where it "killed future recruiting". They can't. |

I don't know, a couple of MU fans brought it up.

Let me guess. KU fans started talking shit on MU basketball. Typical. When MU fans talk shit on KU football, they fall back on basketball. MU fans will fall back on football. We could make the tiebreaker baseball or women's gymnastics.

First of all, it was a MU fan who started the shit-talking.
Secondly, it is possible to mention KU fans without including a snide "typical", especially when you are merely assuming that a KU fan started the argument (and you are wrong).
