Possible Honeymoon destinations?

I guess the males family pays for the honeymoon portion of a wedding. So, I want to avoid asking my father for help towards this. We have been together for a year now and we are getting married May 21, 2011. I'm on a budget for this, so where should we go? I have no clue as to where to take her. She has traveled to Europe and always talks about going overseas again. I don't think I can afford something like that. I was thinking Florida or somewhere near a beach. Maybe somewhere near a good lake. How much would an estimate be on a honeymoon like that?

Thanks for the help.

With your location as "Oklahoma", I went to Travelocity and plopped in Oklahoma City, departing to Fort Lauderdale on that Saturday 5/21/2011 and returning on Sunday 5/29/2011. Price came up starting at $270pp which is pretty decent.

Carnival has an 8-night cruise, Oceanview cabin for $809pp, goes to San Juan, St. Thomas, British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas.

There are also shorter 4- and 5-night cruises, if you want to go cheaper and spend a few days on the beach.

On a $1,500 budget, I'd go for one of the following:

1. Caribbean cruise for however many days you can. Whatever the cruise cost is, add one-third more for "incidentals".

2. Laguna Beach, CA, for probably four days, maybe five.

3. You might be able to do a Mexican resort in that range.

What all is usually included on a cruise? Do we pay for our own meals and stuff?

The only cruise site you'll ever need. They are real helpful with noobs. Meals and drinks are included. No alcohol though. And its expensive on board.

Best deals on cruises are as they are trying to fill suites near departure date.

Yup. I have the same screen name there. First cruise was December of 2005 and in less than 5 years I've now been on 8, with three more booked. Been to Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean (western Italy), northern Europe (Oslo, Bruges and Amsterdam), and four trips to the Caribbean (Cozumel twice, Belize twice, Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Grand Cayman, Nassau (Bahamas), Key West, maybe somewhere else I forgot about, LOL.

The thing I like about cruises is what I like about going to Disney World: it's a separation from reality. You get on board the ship, and you don't think about anything else. They feed you, put on shows for you, provide a casino and bars and pools, and take you to foreign countries where you can do stuff on shore. They're not perfect, by any means, but they're pretty cool.
