doesn't like the script, and rumor has it that he shredded it and sent a letter to Akroyd/Ramis and it said "An audience wouldn't want to see a bunch of old fat guys chasing ghosts."

Yes, it was a good flick and my cousin is in it briefly as "60's business man with horn rimmed glasses". His real name is Joel Brady

Ebert said it was better than the first one. I'll probably go see it at some point. I still need to go see Avengers, though.

Wife and I watched this morning. Enjoyable. Not sure it's better than 1, but I do think significantly better than 2.

Sounds like the Indiana Jones movies. Loved the first and the third, but the second one was awful.

If the pattern holds, let's hope there's no MIB4.

It's doing awful at the box office so far. Last night our prime-time Imax only had around 150 people, and the regular shows had handfuls. It better get its ass in gear today or else the words "flop" and "failure" will be all over BoxOfficeMojo on Monday.

I agree then, if anything they should be side characters.. Their kids run the thing, or I liked the idea of one of them as a ghost sidekick.. Or they now compete against each other and them and their separate business have to come together to save the world..

But just throwing them four of them together after 20+ years to do another movie will flop huge..

Interesting. I know I initially predicted flop, then I changed my tune a few weeks back after watching audience trailer reaction. Looks like my intial reaction was right. It's basically a sequel no one was clamoring for.

I don't know about that. I wasn't really drawn in by the commercials for this, but the reviews have been better than I expected.

And it did beat the Avengers on Friday. It was the first time in 21 days the Avengers was not the #1 movie that day. Although this thing supposedly cost $230 million to make, so they have a lot of work to do.

Everything is all relative. Hollywood loves to throw the opening weekend dollar figures around but a more accurate indicator would be number of tickets sold. Ticket costs are way inflated now days with 3D and IMAX surcharges. Here's a link To the true adjusted box office with inflation. Avengers just past Towering Inferno in reality.

http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm

Movies are all front loaded now too. THere's a ton of pressure to open big. They used to play for months and months back in the day. Now days if a big movie doesn't open huge, it gets bad press and that ends up hurting its perception which kills its box office potential. See John Carter.
