I don't see any way that the Chiefs or Scott Pioli can be seen as identical with the government. Thank god for that, because the government sucks enough without Scott Pioli being part of it.

These nebulous "well there's some tax dollars paying for the stadium, so that means they have to follow Constitutional rules" arguments are well, just too nebulous. They can exclude trespassers as it is private property (why you have to buy a ticket) and as pointed out they can throw you out if you don't follow their rules, just like a movie theater if you start making phone calls or whatever.

Now does this mean they aren't gutless p*ssies for doing this? Absolutely not.

they should be ashamed. but then, these are the folks that invited firemen to a halftime performance and then told them to pay their way into a seat, also cut attendance benefits from the lot valets.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If that's true, that's ****ing bullshit.

But, it makes the Chiefs and Pioli look even more pathetic and pitiful, so there is that.
It is not a violation of the First Amendment. I am 100% sure of that.

A creative lawyer might sue them under a breach of contract theory. That is, since signs hadn't been prohibited in the past, and perhaps it isn't explicitly mentioned in the fine print that you can't do that, that maybe you bought the tickets relying on the fact that you could express your views within reason.

But I think that's a pretty weak case to make. and I'm guessing the Chiefs covered their butts well enough in the fine print of the ticket agreement.

In any case, it is a horrible PR move for the Chiefs to try to silence the voice of their fans.
That's a good question. The rental agreement gives them property rights of exclusion I would wager, otherwise it's pretty worthless.

Just like if you rent a house, the landlord doesn't get to invite all his friends to your house to drink on Sat. night.

It absolutely is within the Chief's rights, although they would be idiots to exercise these rights unless it is some sort of policy against any sign over a certain size or blocking another customer's view or something else consistent.

But yes, the Chiefs are a private organization and can allow or not allow signs....(not a 1st amendment issue or a violation of any other law)

I don't view it as a 1st Amendment violation, I just view it as very sour grapes on the part of the Kansas City Chiefs organization.

Clearly, it's okay to flash signs supporting the Chiefs but criticism isn't allowed. I would not be surprised if Scott Pioli looked into the legality of the SOC banners flown over Arrowhead.

That prick can't be fired soon enough.

ya know, i could give a rats ass if our GM has an ego. I would be good if he had the biggest ego ever recorded by man, if he were good at what he does. This is the sticking point here. Pioli is completely incompetent at his job. Bad decision after bad decision has been ignored by Clark. We are left to show our displeasure by apathy. I love losing the rest of the season so we can receive draft picks to rebuild our roster, but we need a new front office to start evaluating our choices now.

This is the salient point here.

The NFL has rules regarding disruption, violence and the like. However, the property is public. Like getting kicked out of a public park for holding a sign that demands the firing of the park commissioner.

If I got kicked out, I'd call an attorney, for sure.

They refuse to give refunds, you may be able to sue for that but the court costs and such would make it not worth it. Maybe they can try a class action lawsuit. I know nothing about law so not even sure if that is possible.
