Reid says Geno not out of consideration for No. 1 overall

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
Andy Reid says he'll evaluate 8-10 players for No. 1 pick. Asked why Alex over Geno Smith: "Doesn't mean Geno is out of the water." Smiles.

If we draft Geno after all of this (and I can't see a good reason not too) I will be full on hard core homer mode!!

2nd string QBs on great QB teams:

Jim Sorgi
Curtis Painter
Graham Harrell
Matt Cassel

And the list goes on and on.

Teams do that because when you have a franchise starter (like Brees in New Orleans) it does little good to invest all that much money or that high of a draft pick in your backup. It's not a universal strategy, but it is quite common.

And we just gave one of those turds a bunch of money to actually play in the event of an injury to Alex Smith (which tends to happen every season, if only for a few games).

Let's look at it from Andy Reid's perspective. If he thinks Alex has the goods and he sees nobody worth the 1.1 pick, and nobody wants to trade, he should take Geno and just sit him for a year or two while talking him up.

If Alex is good enough for an extension, he can probably trade Geno down the road for at least a first rounder and change. Look at what he got for Kolb.

Why does everyone talk about Geno being a better athlete than Alex? He isn't. Alex is an excellent athlete. Geno isn't.

I'd argue better accuracy and decision making. Why is Geno better?
