Did You Know?

Every team in the AFC West is above .500 all time?

Important note: I generally left off the records shared by over five squads (some records were shared with around ten).

I believed the record became much less noteworthy if it happened to be shared by 1/4-1/3 of the total teams in the NFL.

Oh, and all of those records came courtesy of Wikipedia.

Another note (apologies for the double post): I realized I missed a couple of records on the Chiefs category (I thought it looked sadly sparse).

Did you know we tied NFL record for fumbles (with 10) in a 1969 game against the Oilers?

Did you also know that we ended up WINNING that game, 24-0?

1969-1970, ya'll.

Spoiler!

Not only won, but absolutely dominated.

Man, what I wouldn't give for a time machine that would allow me to witness that season.

Yeah it'd be pretty good.

However if I could go back and witness something Chiefs related, it'd be the 1969 season.

Gosh, this game was a thing of beauty.

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...6910120kan.htm

(Note: This claims we only fumbled nine times, but whatevs)

Out of our ten fumbles, we lost six of them.

Despite losing six fumbles, we shut out the Houston Oilers.

Our defense held the Houston Oilers to 101 total yards of offense.

Despite losing six fumbles, we still won the turnover battle due to five interceptions and four recovered fumbles (for an overall turnover victory of 9-7).

Note: Our 1969 Defense was otherworldly.

The game's sixteen turnovers was just one shy of tying the overall NFL record.

And lastly.

KISS DA RING, YO.

Technically, even if we finished 5-11, we wouldn't be under .500 in victory percentage. (Same thing with 5-10-1, 5-9-2, etc.) Ties act the same as losses as far as that is concerned, right?

404-388-12 would turn into 409-399-12.

I don't think ties count as loses in this case. I thought ties never count towards win-loss percentages?

Think about the damage the last decade has done to those records for Oak and KC.

Quite true. This last decade hasn't been great. Especially for the Raiders.
