New Bag Ban Prohibits Backpacks, Coolers At NFL Stadiums
http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/...-nfl-stadiums/
SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — Are you ready for some football without all the baggage? KNX 1070′s Tom Reopelle reports the National Football League issued new rules Monday for which items fans can bring to cheer on their favorite team. Starting this preseason, purses, backpacks, and other large bags will be prohibited at all NFL stadiums nationwide, including The Queue, the home of the San Diego Chargers. The NFL Committee on Stadium Security voted unanimously in May to recommend the new bag policy (PDF), which includes purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size. Only bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” – including one-gallon plastic freezer bags – will be permitted for fans at stadium plaza areas, stadium gates, or while awaiting entry into a stadium. Small clutch bags will also be permitted, officials said. Exceptions will be made for “medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose,” according to league officials. Chargers spokesman Bill Johnston said the policy is aimed in part at protecting venues after the bombings at the Boston Marathon in April. “It’s not what’s in the bag, it’s the bag itself,” Johnston said. Fans carrying bags that do not meet league criteria will be turned away from the stadium “well before they reach the gates,” officials said. The league also announced clear plastic tote bags with NFL team logos will be available through club merchandise outlets or at NFLshop.com/allclear. |

Went to a golf outing last weekend though, and the team playing behind us all were using one. I'm tellin' ya...it's going to be the norm in 10 years. Maybe less.

This. It's all about the quality of the e-cig. Get a good one, you'll never go back to cigarettes. BUT...it is a mental thing too. You have to tell yourself that this is what you are using, not cigarettes. My wife is about 60-40 on the ecig, but she's getting there.

When the economy went to crap the NFL should have abolished that outdated rule. Im not a NASCAR fan but you can bring a freaking cooler to their races with your own beer! NFL will at some point need to readjust the percentage of tix sold vs blackout and realize for the majority of people watching at home is just a better option. For me I would love to be back in KC and go to games. But if I couldnt afford it I would be pissed if it werent on TV |

with the leaps in HD, and costs of big TVs going WAY down the last 7 years or so, There are few people I know who actually want to go to the stadium to watch it.
I think it's much better at home, personally.

I'm still one of those losers who likes the game day atmosphere, but it's getting ridiculous. I go to one game a year, this year I'm going to 2. It's quite the expense, but I regard it as a vacation...

Yep; I'm good for 1 game a year if at all. Last year was the first time in probably 6 years I didn't get to a single one.

Are they going to ban old bags at the games too?

I agree, and don't get what is different? We went to Soldier Field the last few years, and we couldn't bring in anything hardly. Had to stick the flask down in the crotch.

i'd think it'd be quicker getting through the gates, since they don't have to search through all that shit.

I find this interesting because the stadium here in Denver is not owned by the NFL. It's owned by the city. So what if the city passed an ordinance negating the NFL policy. What happens? (Pretend that there is no contract language that gives the NFL the right to manage a policy like this.)
