US breaks up - where do you live?

Let's say the United States breaks up. The government is annihilated.

Out of necessity and habit, the land quickly forms into seven sovereign nations like this:

Now, if you have a problem with how this is divided up, tough shit. Everything happened far too quickly for people to really think about who they should get paired up with. This is couples' skate, and partners are going fast. So we all just grab someone as quick as we can and hope we're not the awkward kid hanging out by the Karate Champ console.

That kid ALWAYS gets beat up.

So...

You have the means and ability to move to one of these sovereign nations. Where would you go? What would you expect each of their national identities to be? Who becomes the wealthiest nation? The most powerful? The happiest? The healthiest?

And most importantly, which nation gets all the respect?

EDIT POLL ADDED.

Where do you live and why?

Why wouldn't people largely just stay where they are? Maybe I'm missing the point.

This.

They have everything needed to build a great nation, but the people in charge would **** it up.

If history has taught us anything, the East is always pushing to the West in droves. They'll destroy the middle to get there because they have nicer weather and gold in them there hills.

I'll always think fondly of 4, but there's no real comparison. 1 would have the best of just about everything. I mean, just California would still be the top, but you add Washington, Oregon and Las Vegas to that? People who don't choose that probably have never really explored it.

Oh, and I'm assuming Hawaii and Alaska with that?

That's not going to be very easy, every single person in Texas is armed and North Dakota has a shitload of nukes.

2 could do okay depending on the population. They would be able to use the terrain to their advantage. Invading them would be costly. They may be able to live peacefully, albeit isolated.

5 and 7 have issues but I think they'd make it work, and generally be allies against the other territories. They'd probably be economically sound for the most part, and have major hubs in Chicago and New York.

3 would certainly be lost in the great Canadian War of 2045. It becomes a province in southern Canada. You're living on borrowed time there.

6 and 4 would probably end up being warring territories if 6 blockades gulf sea traffic. This is possible since most of group 6 hates Texas and Texas hates most of group 6. That'll lead to massive loss of life and political controversy from the former Colorado and Kansas regions as their children are slaughtered to protect president Rick Perry the III.

The problem with 2 is Denver and Boulder. The California liberals have overrun those areas and brought in a lot of the liberal garbage that infects California and country 7 . They could cut out those two cities and send them to 7. I like 4 and will visit 2 on vacation, except for Denver and Boulder.
