Bailey Gets 1st Team reps at DE/Stephenson 1st Team Reps at RT

- DE Tyson Jackson did not practice with the Chiefs on Thursday due to a strained abdominal muscle that he suffered last Sunday night. He also did not practice on Wednesday. Allen Bailey was working with the first team K.C. defense in Jackson's place.

-- RT Eric Fisher did not practice with the Chiefs on Thursday missing his second consecutive practice due to a shoulder injury from last Sunday night's game. There appears to be little chance that he'll play this weekend against San Diego. Donald Stephenson has been taking the reps at right tackle with Fisher out. Geoff Schwartz has also gotten practice time in that position.

You know the difference between a #1 OT bust and a #1 QB bust?

The coach and GM get to keep their job and the franchise isn't set back 4 years.

That's why they don't wanna go QB...

I donno about that. Alot of synicism on here for a team that is tied at an NFL BEST 9-1 I get concern but lets see it for what it is.

Maybe there is some reason for optimism. Seems to me we got some depth. Maybe Stephenson can step up and provide a spark at RT, who is to say he won't be an upgrade on Fisher? Stephenson is an athletic 6'7" 310 lbs with a good college career and some good NFL starts. Hes also a good story as he was born in Kansas City. This is a great opportunity for him and might actually be a good thing for us. Maybe sure up that side a bit.

Also Bailey looks pretty damn good against the run and Love is a 315 lbs BEAST who started all 16 games on an undefeated team (Pats) and add Catapano for pass rush. Not so bad.

The more I look into Catapano the more intrigued i become. I Just saw this tweet from Chuck Smith (watch videos attached of former All Pro and famous pass rushing coach) and the man, who trained Cat for a bit, has some high praise for him. Smith coached Osi Umenyiora when he set the Giant's franchise single game sack record of 6 sacks in a game. Smith says Cat is the most polished pass rusher in the 2013 draft. Thats high praise considering the source. So instead of skepticism maybe there is reason to be excited still sitting at 9-1 with quality depth. Lets hope so, BIG couple games coming up! 10-1 going into the rematch.

Chuck Smith NFL ‏@chucksmithnfl 8 Nov
The most polished #passrusher in the 2013 Draft @MikeCatapano77 #crosschop #bullrush Your time is coming mike mike #ChiefsNation #Princeton

Watch these videos on Smith. This is a guy who knows pass rushing talent.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtPafMzhYlM

lets keep a sense of optimism here guys.....10-1 going into the rematch. Home Field Arrowhead rematch.

Yeah, it'd be great if Catapano could become a force in the second half, he would help shore up this D's only real weakness... none of our ends can rush the passer.

As for the O line, good... bout time that unit got shuffled.

exactly! I look forward to seeing what Stephenson can do. Maybe an upgrade. Sucks Devito is out and if Jackson is out too thats rough BUT opens up opportunity for guys like Love, Bailey and Cat

excerpt from a Sunday NY Times pre draft article about Catapano......Chuck Smith's comments

Catapano spent three weeks last spring, working for hours each day on footwork and speed, diet and agility, ankle flexibility and hand movements with Chuck Smith, a former N.F.L. defensive end. He ate with Smith at his home, watched film with him, “went into the bunker,” as Smith put it.

“My goal is to train this new generation of pass rushers,” Smith said. “They don’t want bull rushers. It’s more important for guys to get there faster than ever. If Mike Catapano is in there on third down, over the biggest guy in the league, I promise he will destroy that guy. He’s a special guy because of his effort.”

Good. Nothing like the realization that you can be replaced by injury that allows for a little competition

I hated the Fisher pick as much as, or more than, anyone.

He had a terrible first 7 weeks, but has improved with each week since.

This O-Line, in fact, with the exception of Allen, has improved incrementally over that same 3 weeks.
