It comes across as the truth, IMO.
Fact is, we're NOT going to get a stud free agent everywhere we want... receiver, safety, outside backer, blah blah blah... it just isn't possible. And even if some kind of shady wizardry were to make it possible... it wouldn't be a sound business strategy. 1) we need to nail this draft to the bed, make her one with the mattress. 2) we need some of last years draftees and a few other acquisitions to step up. 3) we need to be sure that the one or MAYBE two "name brand" free agents we pick up are the perfect fit... even if its say, just one guy at safety... that guy better provide what we need for the money, someone who's HUNGRY, that guy who's stats and relative youth say "he's ready to break out" but wont bust the bank... which is why I say to hell with guys like Byrd, because desire. |

Nail this draft and secure 1-2 free agents capable of stepping in immediately and/or provide key depth... this team isn't riven with more holes than most, we just need what we have to play like they mean it. |

Seriously, everybody on here after his last two seasons would just be talking about his crappy post season record and how we could have drafted Russell Wilson instead and spent the rest of our picks and cap $ on the defense. And don't say any different cause if you have spent 5 F-ing minutes of your life on here you have to agree.

I like #8. Still can't help but get a little excited by FA. It's only yr 2 of the Reid/Dorsey era so they have my complete trust. This year will be tougher anyway, schedule wise, so just replace Lewis and let's have some fun.

NFL Championships are definitely won outside of the drafts. Trades and signings are a big part.
Beastmode, Harvin, Michael Bennett, Duane Clemons and Cliff Avril were HUGE for the Seahawks. Arguably the players who won them the game. None of them were drafted by Seattle. But I do agree that the draft is 85% of path to success. It's the majority.

This year the draft is way more important than FA. If the chiefs could get 2-3 starters from this draft it will be a huge success. We have a better chance of doing that in the draft than FA because of space.
I have low expectations so between the draft and fa if we got 3 new starters I would be happy. |

I'm not really into what we have to spend but it seems like we're going to need a de, guard, fs, and wr. I don't see how we pick up 3 starters. |

You can definitely pick up starters all over this draft. But probably not on Day One of the season.

I think we need to look at last year in context, as year one of a rebuild going well.
Year two might be more realistic as far as what it takes to rebuild a franchise in the NFL. We should look at it not as a step back from last year, but rather if it's where we'd have hoped to be after year two. |

I'd bet that Dorsey can either get that cap number down a bit or keep it the same, even with an extension.
