Family vacation

We were toying around with doing a driving trip to Myrtle Beach, SC but before we book I want to touch on another option with the CP travel nuts.

Driving to Orlando which surprisingly is only 1 hour further. It will be the hottest time of year unfortunately but I wanted to know about how much you can get done in one day at Universal Studios and Seaworld. The rest of the time would be Cocoa Beach or some other beach.

The entire family would be going so it will be a LONG 2 day road trip going there and getting back. We would also only have 5 full days to enjoy the stuff around us.

Opinions.

Update - We are booked for Orlando now so I'm only looking for suggestions close to there.

Anyone done Aquatica or Wet n Wild? Wet n Wild seems to have a 14 day length of stay pass that is dirt cheap unless I am reading things wrong.

Make sure you hit Honeymoon Island. It's in Dunedin which is just north of Clearwater. Great beach! There's a sweet sandbar halfway between the shore and the buoy where the water goes from deeper to shallow again. Lots of people hang out on the sandbar. Have a safe trip brotha!! Remember our state motto is "come on vacation, leave on probation"

Aquatics I haven't done cuz seems expensive and I honestly could care less about swimming and interacting with ocean life. Wet n wild is a fun time. Cool water park!!

Your only here for one day. Don't waste it on a water park. You can go to a water park in KC. What you can't do is go the some of the best beaches in the USA. Take a boat out on the ocean.

What do you want in a beach? Famous? High on lists as best beaches in the world? The white sand? Undeveloped nature beaches? Party beach? There is a lot to choose from.

Not a family vacation but for an anniversary getaway, has anyone been to the Dominican Republic? Our travel agent recommended it over Mexico and the Virgin Islands (for the price). The resort photos look great. How is the country outside the resorts? Safe to walk around?

One day? we are there for a week. The kids don't want to spend every single day on the beach.

We will have a car. going to cocoa beach, a water park and something else. No idea what. Then we are coming your way. We weren't looking at water parks when we go to tampa. Heck Tampa will probably be the highlight of the trip.

Wet N Wild is trashy as ****, in my opinion.

I'd do Aquatica.
