Talib trashes Chiefs after Donks win yesterday

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2016/...c-championship

Quote:
After topping New England 20-18 to advance to the Super Bowl, Aqib Talib and the Broncos were feeling very good. Celebrating a win against the defending Super Bowl champs might be enough for some, but Talib also managed to get a shot in at the rival Kansas City Chiefs in the process.

The Chiefs saw their 11-game winning streak and season end last week with a loss to the Patriots. The Kansas City defense struggled to contain Tom Brady and the New England passing attack. Talib made it very clear he didn't pull any tips from how the Chiefs played New England.

"We ain't look at nothing the Chiefs did — they got served," Talib said, via The Kansas City Star. "The Chiefs ain't help us do nothing. They sorry."

There is no love lost between the Chiefs and Broncos and that extends to the fan bases. Talib trashing the Chiefs — who will be watching the Super Bowl from home — had to be the cherry on top of the AFC Championship for Denver fans.
I'm not sure if he is just incredibly stupid, a product of a KU education, or the thin air has gone to his head.... Someone care to take a shot at diagramming his "sentences?"

That's actually easy, you just need to know that you're diagramming using the rules of AAVE.

Quote:
"We ain't look at nothing the Chiefs did
"Ain't" is a general negative indicator commonly used in AAVE, and the negative concord "ain't... nothing" is, unlike in Standard American English, not prescribed to mean a positive, so the usage is fine here. The recent past tense of "we... look" is also consistent with AAVE grammar, as it doesn't require the preterite "-ed." The Standard American English version of this sentence would be "We didn't look at anything the Chiefs did" - not so hard to figure out.

Quote:
— they got served,"
This slang commonly used in Standard American English, too; the meaning should be clear.

Quote:
"The Chiefs ain't help us do nothing.
See the first quotation - pretty much the same pieces are used here. "The Chiefs didn't help us do anything" would be the Standard American English version.

Quote:
They sorry."
As with many languages, the coupla "be" can be dropped without affecting the meaning of the sentence. Generally "is" and "are" can be dropped in AAVE, and here, it's clear that he's omitting the word "are." So, it's grammatically sound. "They are sorry." As in, "they suck at defense."

If you read it in context with what the rest of the team was saying in response to essentially identical questions, it's pretty obvious that the Broncos made it a point to mock our gameplan during the week.

It almost had to be a talking point. I'd imagine the coaches went over our tape with them and spent the whole time telling their players that we won't be playing this passive zone shit - we're going to let you go out there and get after it.

The Broncos/Pats game pissed me off more than the Pats/Chiefs game because during the Chiefs game I could only state that our bullshit gameplan killed us in theory - I had no evidence that a more aggressive coverage scheme would've worked. Then I saw the Broncos game and was proven right.

Like I said - I just hope the Chiefs coaching staff watched that game as well and knows exactly how they ****ed this up. I hope they realize that they submarined a Super Bowl team by playing scared.

Dude. He missed 5 games. That's potentially 5 missed sacks, which would have given him 12.5 on the season. one more than Von, who missed zero time.

The difference between Talib and Gronk is that Talib was speaking in a legitimate vernacular with grammatical consistency.

Shit....it isn't, is it? You're actually trying to push 'ghetto' as a legitimate dialect. Yeah, have fun with that.

Chiefs D is ok, it has some nice players like Houston (who isn't healthy), Poe, Howard, Peters, Berry. But are any of those guys better than their Denver counterpart? Be honest. Berry is probably the only one.

Von Miller was healthy all season and didn't have an appreciably better year than Houston over 16 games.

Houston and Miller are essentially the same player when healthy. And unlike Miller, Houston has had an historically dominant season in the past.

I actually think Houston's a slightly more rounded player than Miller, truth be told. But Miller has stepped up his game in run support and in coverage this season.

Prior to the year I'd have taken Houston without blinking. It's a closer call because I think Miller got better this year. That said, I still think Houston's a slightly better player in run support and has shown a higher ceiling than Miller so I'll take Houston.
