Three Things About Last Night's Game

My pre-season tune up for the regular season.

3. Seattle's fans are a lot like our fans, except they've had the experience of a Super Bowl or two since our last trip. As far as the national CBS Broadcast, Dan Fouts is an insufferable prick. He's always held a grudge against KC because he was in our division, and KC was a laughing stock during his playing days, so he's always looked his nose down at us. The fewer games we draw him as a color commentator, the better.

2. Elvis, uh I mean Casshole, uh...I mean Alex Smiff: I've come to the firm belief that Smiff is just a slightly better than average NFL starting QB. You can make a firm argument that he's the third best in our division, only Semen for the Donks is worse, and not by much. Smiff's receivers did him no favors; but if you watch his throws, they're never on the numbers or in stride. They're high, or low, or behind the receiver. Maholmie, on the other hand, hits guys where they can do something with the ball once its been delivered. Yeah, it's going to be a learning year for Mahomie behind Smiff. But the kid has promise. I'm much more optimistic than when we picked him over Watson on draft day.

1. How many times did our D-line line up offsides? Four? Five? More? That's seems like a pretty simple in game fix, but double digit penalties is not in character for a Andy Reid coached team. So we'll not make too big a deal out of that. QB pressure was poor on Wilson, Jones got the only clean shot sack on him. Maybe in a real game Justin Houston would change that dynamic. D-backs all covered relatively well for a pre-season game. I'm a little bit worried about Nelson and Gaines. Nelson tends to draw DPIs at inopportune times, and Gaines dropped an INT he should have had easy. Also worried about Eric Berry having NO pre-season reps. I hope he's able to step in and play against the Pats without looking bad.

OK, now I'll put on my baseball cap and watch. Don't want to strain anything.

Oh, and certainly hope Ware is going to be OK. We seriously need him for third and short.

You know.. I'd like to take the time to think about that and all.. but I can't push the "you're a tool you're a tool you're a massive tool" outta my thoughts.

Alex Smith is nothing special.. other than his win % and perseverance from the first handful of terribad supporting cast. Mahomes may be great and I hope he will be.

.. but you will always be that poster that was once useful and fair.. and now devolved into a more eloquent SDH. Not mad. Just very disappointed that this is what has become of you. Good day sir. Continue to be good and kind to your pets.

the bar for alex smith seems to be moving depending on what he does---many used to becry that he wouldn't throw the ball up and give the player a chance--he did that last nite on the long pass that hill dropped, and now it is that he doesnt put the ballin perfect position

After Maclin was released, many people on this message board proclaimed that it was no big deal that the Chiefs released Maclin without properly addressing the WR position during the offseason because of the supposed emergence of Demarcus Robinson as a capable WR (apparently there was great excitement over how Robinson was performing in April/May OTA's)

Three games into the preseason, including the dress rehearsal game and Robinson looks to be continuing his 0 catches/0 receiving yards performance from last year.

Maciln didn't look like the answer, but after looking at the stone hands crew from last night, we need some help. Hopefully it was just "one of those nights" and things will improve.

completely agree here...maclin was battling a groin last season...and has been a pretty solid guy. last year was by far his worst but I would feel a LOT better about our receiving corps if we had a guy like maclin on it. I don't know about the cap situation as much as some do here so maybe it was impossible to keep him but to go with 1 & 2 who havent played a full season , ever...and are so young...I think its a bold move....at the very least.

Having "one of those nights" on prime time against a team like New England and we are going to a slaughter house.

1. Injury to Ware gives us more time to figure out the depth chart at that position. A blessing in disguise imo.

2. Game three is supposed to be a dress rehersal and Alex looked like his old self.

3. I think Robinson didn't help himself at all last night. Sorry kid.

4. Reserve oline sucks ass, kinda to be expected since all 5 starters are locked up until 2020.

5. I still like Mahommes play, he does things we have not seen out of a KC QB since Montana

Many?

I believe they were all following one poster, deferring to him as if he were a projectionist God who somehow knows the correct answer to everything, no?

Pointless until next season. Keeping Maclin was pointless at 12 mil. Smith hates WRs and doesn't use them worth a damn.

Mahomes will and at least we will know who can play can't after this year.

He did beat Atlanta IN Atlanta in the regular season.

Same team that went to and should have won the SB.

He did SWEEP Denver which hasn't been done in ages.

He's also beaten both Brady and Luck in the regular season.

Was HE the reason we won?

No.

Did he play good enough to beat those four teams?

Yes...
