ditto

we did invest 2 1sts and a 3rd for him but it’s idiotic when it’s repeatedly phrased we spent 2 1sts and a 3rd to move up for him.

Seeing all the negative crap, hearing from people how stupid the pick was, how stupid the Chiefs were for getting rid of Smith...just reinforced my confidence in this guy. I don't think the Chiefs would have made such a daring move if they were not sure that this guy was special.

I love that they were right.
I'm with you on this. It is really hard to win a SB without a top 5 QB. I'm tired to watching KC compete for a playoff spot.

I was certainly ready to roll the dice. I don't follow college, but after they drafted him, it was pretty clear that a lot of pundits thought he was, at best, a project, but it was also really clear that he had a sky-high ceiling.

I was fully on board with that. If it had turned into a bust, you roll the dice again.

Alex Smith played better than I thought he would and we didn't give up that much to get him and we got most of it back when we traded him. But I thought it was extremely unlikely to ever get to the SB with him. At most maybe a wild card win.

If you are a team like the Browns, that might actually be pretty good. But I thought KC was at a point they should go for boom or bust.

Them and the Raiders KILL good players. Look at how damaged Derek Carr is now!

Joe Thomas is the only guy to survive the Browns.

Derek Carr isn't 'damaged.' He is the same player he always was. Great with time to think, and a spazz under pressure. Reminiscent of Whitlock's BF Jeffy George. Give him an O-line like Dak enjoyed last year and he'll be back on pro-bowl form in no time. Harangue him and flustrate him and he'll fold like a cheap suit.

In order of the absolute worst draft commentary I'd easily go #1 USA Today. They're a dogshit collection of rejects and has-beens.

#2 is CBS. Those two organizations are so consistently wrong it's laughable.

If Cleveland took him then Baker would have been with a better organization and not the perpetual losers that are the Browns. I see he wants to be traded.

If Baker was drafted this year by the Chiefs and Alex was still here then I have little doubt he'd be on the bench and next year he'd be lighting the league up. Not to Mahomes' level but still. He'd be the best QB of this class easily.

I like Baker. I hope Dorsey turns the Browns around and we have 15 years of KC and Cleveland as the Brady and Manning rivalry of the 2020's.

Except I don't like the fine detail of that scenario.

Judging by the relative QBs, and the relative remainder of each team, we'd size up more on the Manning/Colts end, and the Browns more on the Brady/Patriots end.
