What's your (way too early) final roster?

I know that it's too early. But I thought that this would be good to bump during camp and at final cutdowns. I would imagine that there are still going to be some guys added post June 1 that will be on the roster. But for the most part, our final 53 should come from the current group. Who ya got? Here's mine

Offense
QB (2) Mahomes. Henne
OL (9) Fisher Wylie, Reiter, LDT. Schwartz, Erving, McKenzie, Allegretti, Hunter
WR (6) Watkins, Deiter, Pringle, Robinson, Hardman, Davis(Hill starts out roster exempt-suspended.)
TE (3) Kelce, Yelder, someone not yet on the roster
FB (1) Sherman
HB (3) Thompson, Damian Williams, Darrell Williams

Defense
DL (8) Jones, Clark, Nnadi, Williams, Ogbah, Saunders, Okafor, Speaks
LB (6) DOD, Ragland, Hitchens, Neimann, Johnson, Wilson
S (4) Matheiu. Watts, Lucas, Thornhill
CB (6) Fuller, Breeland, Ward, Smith, Reaser, Fenton

Special teams (3)
K: Butker
P: Colquit
LS: Winchester

Yes, I know. I only have 51. I'm trying to decide who to put in those spots. Right now, I am thinking that the udfa rookie OT Boyd could end up snagging a spot if he shows well in camp. But we're deeeep at running back. Would they keep 4 plus Sherman? Maybe another wide receiver? I don't know. On defense, it'll be interesting to see if Fields can claim that other spot. I also have Kpass left off. But this defensive scheme could save his career. So, I'm just going to leave those 2 spots open....for now.

I think Sorensen still makes the roster. As far as a 3rd QB, Litton has to be the favorite.

He would see plenty of action being the #2 TE here in KC.

If Hill doesn't get suspended, Tremon Smith could be in real trouble.

If Hill's active, they're gonna wanna still see Hardman get some run out there, if only to get used to the speed of the NFL game. They'll have him returning kicks and punts at that point.

And if Smith isn't a primary returner, I'm just not sure what use he is to this squad. At that point, I think Fields gets the last CB slot over him.

Offense (26)
QB (3) - Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne, Chase Litton
RB (4) - Damien Williams, Carlos Hyde, Darwin Thompson, James Williams
FB (1) - Anthony Sherman
TE (3) - Travis Kelce, FA pickup, Yelder (ugh),
WR (7) - Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman, Cody Thompson, Byron Pringle, Jamal Custis
OT (3) - Eric Fisher, Mitchell Schwartz, Cameron Erving
OG (4) - Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Andrew Wylie, Khalil McKenzie, Nick Allegretti
OC (1) - Austin Reiter

Defense (24)
DE (4) - Frank Clark, Breeland Speaks, Alex Okafor, Emmanuel Ogbah
DT (4) - Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Khalen Saunders, Justin Hamilton
LB (5) - Anthony Hitchens, Dorian O'Daniel, Damien Wilson, Gary Johnson, Reggie Ragland
CB (6) - Kendall Fuller, Bashaud Breeland, Charvarius Ward, Mark Fields, Keith Reaser, Rashad Fenton -- If they keep Smith I think Fields will win the job over Fenton.
DB (5) - Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, Jordan Lucas, Armani Watts, Daniel Sorensen

Special Teams (3)
P Dustin Colquitt
K Harrison Butker
LS James Winchester

I'm wondering if Custis can block at all. His highlight videos leave a lot to be desired as a WR, but he would make a good receiving TE.

Is that the UDFA? My memory is that he's not really someone that operates in-line worth a shit, is that the same guy?

If so, he's not a viable candidate for a #2 TE role, though we could try to carry him as a 3rd TE. Andy doesn't really like his #2 TE to be a strictly 'move tight end' kind of player. Lovett, if he's the QB convert that I'm thinking of, is just a little too light to end up in that role, IMO.

Custis looks like one of those "does everything okay but nothing really well" guys.

Then again I thought that about Albert Wilson

DJ's roster is close to what I think other than I think they'll go with Xavier Williams over Hamilton and I don't think they'll keep nearly that many DB's and Nieman probably makes it.

If anyone surprises and forces their way on the roster, I see the Chiefs trying to sneak Custis onto the practice squad (pretty doable). Ragland v. Niemann will be an interesting camp battle but I don't think the team is as down on Ragland as we are. If Attaochu is healthy he could force the issue a bit, though. We still have some SAM issues, IMO, and I think Attaouchu can be a starting caliber player there if he's healthy and used in that role. If Wilson can't lock that job up cleanly, they may be forced into keeping Attaochu as insurance.

For some reason I feel like Watts may be a cut candidate even after being a relatively high pick and flashing a little. I also feel like they'll be beating the bushes for another T. I'm betting Wylie gets the starting G spot before all is said and done (unless McKenzie impresses) and when that happens, they're gonna be looking for a better swing-tackle than Erving.

The Williams/Hamilton battle will come down to preference - personally I think Hamilton just does 'nose tackle' things better than Williams but Williams has a little more athleticism. If they want someone they can stunt, twist or shoot gaps with a little more frequently, they'll bring Xavier back for another year over Hamilton. Hamilton's a sounder, steadier player though.

If Hill is on this team this will be the best WR group in the history of the Chiefs.

Yeah, but I think in a perfect world they don't see Sorensen as a true 'DB' but rather as a nickel linebacker.

But yeah, I feel like I'm heavy a defensive back and maybe light an O-Lineman. I just leaned into talent over roster construction at that point. I simply don't see a T on the roster that I'd want to keep over the CBs/Ss that I kept.

I personally think they should cut Sorensen but I doubt it happens...Lucas probably gets the ax and Spags has no history of ever running those 3 safety sets so I fully expect Sorensen to become primarily a special teams guy.

History or no, everyone is running 3 safety sets now and if we aren't, we should be.

Especially with a guy as physical and versatile as Mathieu.
