Hmmmmmmm, I don't think there is a perfect answer to your quest - I think it ends in, "it depends" a lot of times. I've heard MotoCross riders are, pound-for-pound the most in-shape athletes in the world. Who am I to argue? Others would say because there's a motor involved, they aren't even athletes. You seem to be throwing some salary factor into the mix, and that's interesting. Sure blows the shit out of the MotoCross dudes being anything but fat pigs huh... Then there's this whole this dude could out-do this other dude at his own sport angle. So he went somewhere with a shit badketball team and didn't play football at all? Why didn't he just not play football at Michigan State, then? The fact is the guy didn't play organized football for years. Then he turned around and suddenly became the best TE in football.

There are 100 guys in the NBA who could make the Chiefs roster by 2015. I'm not saying that NBA players could take up 100 roster spots, but any 1 of 100 players could make a roster. The athletes are THAT good. The 100th best athlete in the NBA is better than the 1,500th best in the NFL.
