There must be a reason Holland is your guy's closer and no one else is.

If Yost was a good manager, he could predict what each hitter is going to do and pull the pitchers before they give up scoring plays to those hitters.

I've only ever seen a closer get pulled after the lead has been blown and its a tie (or worse, if its the home team). I've never seen a closer get yanked with the team still up.

And that last hit wasn't lucky. Holland threw a ****ing high fastball and he was sitting on it.

Like I said, I am 99% sure I've actually seen LaRussa do it. But certainly not on an every-game basis.

Holland ****ing sucks.
I'm on the bandwagon for Herrera at closer. Holland just doesn't have the mentality. |

I said that because I seen someone post that he's a lucky piece of shit. No he's not. He's got one of the ****ing hardest jobs in baseball. Sit on the bench, in the cold, and with no ABs come up and win the game. He was sitting on that, with the frame of mind if he throws a first pitch fastball, that's my best shot to win the game. Just a terrible pitch by Holland.

You guys will be ok. Can't overreact over a blown save, as hard as it is.

Again, Herrera threw 11 strikes in just 14 pitches (I erroneously previously said 13 pitches; I stand corrected). If he gets in trouble early in the 9th, then you can knock your socks off and go with Holland...who, BTW, could have been brought in for the final 2 outs to get his precious save. God forbid if anyone other than Holland gets a save for the Royals this year. He's counting on getting his ticket punched to Cooperstown...not for his total saves number, but for total number of save opportunities -- because that's what really counts. |
