The MIA Heat Show Thread

LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

John Wall was 4-19 today lol. Kitty Cat Cartier Martin scored 23 points.
I disagree on Favors. You see a spark here and there with Favors. He's a pretty quick guy for his size and can jump a bit, but I've never seen him take over a game like Cousins has. And they're both coming out as freshmen, so they both still have roughly equal "upside" IMO. Cousins will get in a little better shape and get stronger, but the feel for the game, the quick feet and the passing/shooting skills are really already there. With Favors, we're projecting those things but it's a complete unknown at this point.

Caracter was a relatively high profile recruit that started out at Louisville, but had some problems and moved on to UTEP for his last season in college. In fact, he was part of a UTEP team that was predicted by some as a sleeper in the tourney this year. Instead, they flopped in the first round. A little like Big Baby Davis, in that he's a little bit undersized post player who shows some ability to develop a mid range face up game. He was worth the risk for when the Lakers got him.

My Kings are almost Thunder lite. Evans is a stud scorer and Cousins has the potential to be a very good big man.

I'm really interested to see how these two play together. They have an interesting set of players on their roster. Jason Thompson needs to figure out how to stop fouling so he can stay on the floor. Carl Landry is a nice player, and Casspi and Donte Green have shown flashes. Hassan Whiteside probably won't play much, but that dude is looong and can block some shots. Tyreke is very Dwayne Wade like, but we'll see if he figures out how to get his and get his teammates involved enough to ultimately win games.

I said during the draft I'd take Cousins 3rd without a doubt, and his performance in summer league hasn't changed my mind. That guy is going to be a beast in the NBA. He's more skilled than people realize. He's a very good (and willing) passer. He can also step out and shoots pretty comfortably out to 20 ft. He made the game winner with a little jump hook from 10 ft last night. Yes, he's a bit of a punk, but I think he'll mature. His size/talent is undeniable.

Lance Stephenson has looked good, as has Derrick Caracter. I'm watching Eric Bledsoe and he has a lot of tools in his toolbox. He has a chance to be really good in a few years if the Clips/Baron don't ruin him. I also like Luke Babbit as a bit of a sleeper solid guy this year and beyond.
I've watched a handful of them.

Caracter has looked like Cousins light. Cousins is clearly the more talented player and more impressive physical specimen, but Caracter has a very nice post game and is no slouch physically.

It's looking like Caracter should have gone in the mid-teens and like Cousins has the chance to be the biggest difference maker in the entire draft.

That said....it's Cousins. He'll !@#$ it up.

But 3 days ago Caracter matched up with Cousins and we got a chance to see to big men go at it and directly compare the two.

I've seen Ebanks get swatted about a dozen times. This tells me that he may exactly like Trevor Ariza, but clearly doesn't have his exposion. As such, Ebanks is probably an 11th man at best.

You can get a solid feel for guys, especially their physical strengths, in the SL games.

I do think the Kings have a bright future. I still kind of pull for them since they were my first team. Even though I'm still bitter about them leaving KC 27 years later.

I do relate with Sonic fans in that way since I'm now that I'm a Thunder fan and season ticket holder.

Joel Anthony, the third-year shot-blocker who could set up as the Heat's starting center this coming season alongside Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh, signed off Friday on a five-year, $18 million contract.

The Heat also announced the signing of second-round draft choice Dexter Pittman, the burly center out of the University of Texas, who currently is participating in the team's summer league in Las Vegas. He received a three-year deal.

More beef will arrive over the weekend, with Cleveland Cavaliers free-agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to finalize his two-year, $2.4 million contract and center Jamaal Magloire to take a third year with the team at the veteran's minimum.

The Heat also is expected to close out its deal this weekend with Portland Trail Blazers free-agent power forward Juwan Howard, another player who has played in the middle over his career.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/m...,4917619.story
That makes the roster thus far:

PG: Chalmers
SG: Wade
SF: LeBron, Miller
PF: Bosh, Haslem, Howard
C: Joel Anthony, Z, Magloire, Pittman

Room for 2 PGs, a SG and a SG/SF.

What does a $110 million contract buy a person these days?

Apparently a lot of house.

A real lot of house.

Life & Style is reporting that LeBron James, who recently signed a six-year, $110 million deal with the Miami Heat, has started the paperwork to buy a $49.5 million mansion in the most expensive portion of Coral Gables, Fla. The home was once owned by Pat Riley, and was taken off the market shortly after "The Decision."

The home is the most expensive in Coral Gables, according to Life & Style, and features:eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms;

* 880 feet of waterfront on Biscayne Bay;

* a master suite with a full gym;

* a private guest suite with its own tennis court and courtyard on an acre of land.

* a 150-foot dock

Taxes are about $1 million per year, with an additional $150,000 price tag for utilities. South Florida auto magnate Alan Potamkin owns the home, and he has listed the home for $49.5 million.

Life & Style reports it's a "slam dunk" the home will soon belong to James.
