The ones I know hate DD w/ a passion and are ready for his replacement. Same as MB.

I could see how it was taken that way, but what I meant, were fans, that after reading their posts for a while, you had come to some decision that they might indeed more than the average "fan". I don't mean this to be "airtight". But, being a veteran message boarder yourself, I'm sure you can begin to discern between people who have absolutely no clue to the inner workings of UT, and those who might indeed know "someone". Or, at the very least, those that seem to be a bit more "knowledgeable" in general, than your average fan. If not, I apologize.

Re-alignment will reverse itself eventually. That is my bold prediction. Nobody thinks that superconferences will fail, but I do. Look at all sorts of organizations (companies, countries even) that merge and grow big. Look at how many eventually fail and break apart. That's where these sports are headed.
THe only thing college sports can sell is rivalry & tradition. They can't sell quality of the sport vs. the pros. What reason would a person in Iowa City have to watch games against Rutgers or Maryland? I mean, I guess to see their own team play. But nearly every fan cares vastly more about BIG matchups than non-cons. Aren't these adds basically non-cons? College sports programming is a massive bubble right now and when it pops, the economic reasons will pop too. Then schools will go back to geographical focus. |

"Fans" always believe they have all the answers, and often, are too easily steered into a "herd mentality". I'm not defending DD by any means, I'm just saying, I'll take his word for a better understanding of the direction of the University, than "the herd". If DD does get replaced, I'll take that person's word over "the herd". "The herd" may very well push a move for change, and the next person may see themselves as an agent of that change. But, until that person actually gets into that driver's seat, actually hears all the true benefits and concerns, I'll go with the people who are actually in those positions now, whether I agree with their direction or not.

As down as they have been UT is still probably the #1 job in college football. |

If advertisers figure out a different way to maximize their money, then perhaps sports programming will even out. I just don't know what that is yet.

Once they get done with all this realignment crap, they should change the name of the conferences. Change the Big 10 to the Big 14 or however many teams they have in their conference. The Big 12 should do the same and the Big East should just call their conference "everyone else" or the "cluster**** conference".

Anyone arguing Texas not being the best program is insane. It's the best job and it's by a decent margin. USC would be second, Florida probably third. Then Ohio State-Alabama probably.

They also like the Big XII and have come around to some extent in terms of DD's role in Neb/MU's departure. Rightly or wrongly they think CU and aTm were good as gone whenever they had a chance. It's all stupid. The Big XII worked and they eff'd it up. All of them. TX did have a chance to save it and chose not to
