That was the only spoiler from the episode I knew about, because somebody on the scifi board dropped it in the middle of a thread about something else.
I have a feeling when I rewatch this episde I'm going to think it's great. Particularly the last half-hour. I was on the edge of my seat basically the whole time. |

For a minute, I was really afraid that one of the oddball theories I had heard was going to come true. It had been tossed around that the raptor was the 5th, and I wasn't going to like that. |

Upon further reflection...damn good episode. Strike that. GREAT episode.
Now, where do we go from here? Also, when did they find it in relation to our current time? That also begs the question of did they actually find Earth? Ron Moore (lying SOB that he is) said "we're finding something we are calling Earth" a while back. Also, was she telling the truth when she said only four were in the RTFF? Michael Hogan just keeps impressing me. Can't wait to see what he does after this series wraps.

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE:
I watched the end again - it looked like they might have been standing in the ruins of New York City. The view was similar to that in Brooklyn, looking west across the East River towards Manhattan. The large structure to the right looked like it might have been the ruins of a suspension bridge. I guess this is a classic case of be careful what you wish for - you may get it. I figured they wouldn't pull a Galactica 80 and have them show up during our time and magically speak the same language, but that was brutal. I hope the show doesn't end on such a depressing note, although I'm bracing for that. |

I don't know if it was NYC or not, but it certainly looked like Pythia's drawing of the "Temple of Aurora" that Lee was looking at in the beginning of the episode. When they landed, it looked to me like they were coming down on the Isthmus between North and South America, but I never got a very good look at the planets geography. That kind of stood out to me, because in last seasons cliffhanger, we had a great shot of what was certainly Earth. I'm also wondering how long the planet has been like that, and how it relates to our current time. Distant past, distant future? Did they do it to themselves, or was it done to them. Either way, it was brutal finding Earth like what they had left behind. "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again". When I watched the rebroadcast, all I could think of seeing them standing there: ON the beach, at night, Stands a child, with her father, Watching the east, the autumn sky. Up through the darkness, While ravening clouds, the burial clouds, in black masses spreading, Lower, sullen and fast, athwart and down the sky, Amid a transparent clear belt of ether yet left in the east, Ascends, large and calm, the lord-star Jupiter; And nigh at hand, only a very little above, Swim the delicate brothers, the Pleiades. From the beach, the child, holding the hand of her father, Those burial-clouds that lower, victorious, soon to devour all, Watching, silently weeps. -Walt Whitman

Did you notice the 6 walking up to him at the very end. I'm still wondering if they're playing with the idea that his wife was an aged 6, although it was probably just the one from the brig. It'll be interesting watching it again later, now that I'm not completely worn out. |

There's still another power in play here - whoever turned the four onto the Earth signal and provided Starbuck with the off-the-showroom-floor Viper. Surviving Earthlings? Lightship people? And we still have the other Cylons to contend with.
I guess we'll find out.... NEXT YEAR. |

I wonder if the thing the hybrid said about Kara being the harbinger of death could mean that she was the one who led them to earth to find all the death and destruction. Or if she's going to lead them to something even worse in the future.

An Old Geezer's take on the show thus far and where (I think) it's going.
Key phrase - "All this has happened before, and all this will happen again." They have now returned to Earth - an Earth devastated by a previous war between cylons and humans -though will lesser technology than they now possess. The humans fled to another system to start over and - bingo - it happens again. Rinse and repeat. Those who don't know the past are doomed to repeat it. I believe the story line is leading to more confrontation between the "good" cylones, "bad" cylones, and humans on the newly rediscovered Earth, untill they finally learn to co-exist together. Of course this will mean a purging of hardliners on both sides of the fence. JMO.

Here's a thought. Could this be Ron Moore's take on Terra from the original series, minus the gay dancing robot duo of Hector and Vector? We got a very clear shot of Earth at the end of season 3, showing North America. This time...not so much.
I have a hunch RDM is going to make a run at the "War of the Gods" arc from the original series as part of wrapping it up. What's Patrick Macnee up to these days? I'm pretty sure it was Caprica 6, from the brig. Just before she walks over and reaches out to Tigh, she's holding her belly.

If you would have asked me within the last few years what Earth was going to look like when they got there, I would have put my money on the Planet of the Apes ending. Should be interesting to see what happens next.

I'm going to say that I think it is "Earth", but there is some circumstantial evidence that it might not be. After all, who confirmed the star charts? Gaeta, who a lot of people think might be the 5th. Plus, he was very insistent about being there (in CIC). Although, I probably would too if I were about to find earth. This does contradict the "four in the fleet" comment though.
