It never was legit. The South was 2-46 at Allen over that time frame, so the odds of them winning the comebacker was always extremely low esp given how big a game it would be at Mecca. Plus, KU won the neutral site tourney games anyway to prove the point. It's sad anyone tries to claim a legit tie with KU but according to league rules, that's what everyone agreed on. So it is what it is.

Considering Kansas was the 2 seed in 2008, it is more than legit for Texas to claim AT LEAST a share.

If they had any shred of honor, they'd surrender it today asap. KU lost at the end in Austin and beat them by 10 in KC. Then went on to win the whole shebang with the highest scoring margin in the country, most wins (37) in history, and the highest Pomeroy rating in the 9 years it's been done.

Texas can try and pretend they were close to us that year, but it's laughably dumb. Still, I do understand the rules and why the League forced a split recognition.

Seems reasonable to me. You can return the 1988 trophy to Oklahoma while you're at it.
